The weird part about this story is, there was a FB hoax going around for a month now saying he died. His "people" confirmed yesterday that his death was a hoax and he was alive and well.
In our little tiny po-dunk area of south central PA we have had 4 or 5 young people die of heroin overdoses in the past 2 months. One just last week, one the week before.....
It's apparently coming out of Pittsburgh where 22 people have OD'd from it. The heroin is laced with fentanyl.
I just read on MSNBC that he spent 10 days in a rehab last year. Those places should come under fire for taking people's money for treatments that for most people will absolutely not work. Ten days is nothing.
I don't think we can assume he was running, Chisue. He got addicted at a very young age, and managed to come out of it. Then apparently 20+ years later he got hooked on prescription drugs (I don't know the circumstances), and that led to heroin reeling him in. That's when he went to the useless rehab.
Rehab works if you choose to let it work. My nephew has been sober for 2 years now. Because he chooses to. But who knows what the next few years can do to him. One day at a time.......The problem addicts have after they come out of rehab is, they try to take the dose they were taking before they went for help. You can't do that. Your body has been cleaned of all the junk and you have to start from day one again. But most recovering addicts just go back to where they were the day they went for help. Recovering addicts also have to get all new friends. If you hang out with the people you were getting high with, you're going to get high again.
I didn't recognize the name but then saw the face on the news and realized he was one of the excellent actors in The Talented Mr. Ripley. That's a really great film. Sad!
when I was very young we lived in the heart of Hollywood, in apt building where there were always struggling actors, kids from the "sticks" looking for breaks and our fair share of the crazies (lennie bruce the first really bad mouthed comic) some came, some learned the real deal and left. very few actually did make it on... I went went back to my hs and was talking to a favorite teacher...asked why we hadn't heard the stories about drugs..(1964) she said, oh we had students but it was a very well kept secret, then...I often wonder if our class was doomed with the onset of Vietnam? all those young guys/gals who had been raised on father knows best and leave it to beaver, back in a world (ww2) our parents had taken so much care to hide us from?
