Holy Cow!!! it was as easy as...

1 - 2 - 3!! The 1 2 3 cake someone posted was easy and sooo good. If any one missed it, in a gallon sized ziplock bag, mix one dry package on angel food cake mix and one dry package of another cake mix, the flavor, your choice. Blend the two dry mixes thoroughly. When you want a sweet treat of just the right amount, in a microwave safe mug or small dish, put in 3 Tablespoons of the dry blended cake mix. Stir in 2 tablespoons of water, and microwave for 1 minute....hence the 1 2 3 cake. I used a Devils food cake mix with the angel food cake mix and it was so good, tasted like german chocolate cake. Remember, one of the dry mixes has to be angel food.

Hi dotmom,

Holy Cow...that does sound good. It also sounds like a fun thing to try.

Thanks!

Actuallly dotmom, it was called the 3 2 1 cake. That helps one remember the steps and amounts in order. LOL! Whatever! I tried it also using the same cake mix as you. Gave some of my dry mix to a Home Ec teacher friend to play with. She thinks that her junior high students will love it. Thank you to whoever it was who originally posted it.

Since it was posted a couple of weeks ago, I have made it for myself every night. Each night I try out different toppings. Last night I had cake and ice cream. I used a Skinny Cow fudge pop (50 calories). It was yummy and best of all, no guilt :)

I love that this was posted! I made several times this week.
Twice, while still warm I have added ice cream
I have also sprinkled Heath bar bits in the batter - makes a nice soft crunch.
I also put a dab a whipped cream on top
(I mixed a banana spice cake)

I tried a few peaches in the batter. I blotted most of the juice out with a paper towel first and they were chopped canned peaches and it worked fine in a white cake mix with the AF cake mix.

I've made the cakes in a mug before and wasn't happy with them. Is this recipe different and is it moist?

I think Thistledew posted it first.

I feel like I invented it since I've sent it to so many people !!!

When my 12 year-old grandson gets home from school he stays at our house with Papa until Mom comes to get him. He thinks it's the greatest and he and Papa have been experimenting. Yesterday it was canned peaches and substituting the juice for the water. They said it was excellent. The day before it was a dark chocolate (not devil's food) cake with instant coffee and cinnamon. Papa loved that one. Today they have a strawberry cake mix to work with. Everyone seems to love that you can choose what you want instead of baking one big cake that is only one flavor. AND, nobody feels like they have to finish off a big cake before it goes bad. And I like that Elijah can make his own snack, makes him feel "important".

Thanks Gazania. I stand corrected. 3 2 1....1 2 3, either way it is so much fun and I'm looking forward to experimenting with different flavors and additions. Thanks, also to the original poster.

I wonder if you can measue out 1/2 Angel Food to 1/2 other mix so you have more than one flaavor from a box of Angel Food..

I feel like printing up the directions on cards and giving them to people looking at cake mixes in the market.

We discussed it yesterday at lunch, I had received it in email prior to the original posting of it here, and had forwarded to my friends. We all told which flavors we tried, every one loved it. The ones that had not heard of it yet could not understand what the heck we were talking about. The 3-2-1 makes the instructions easy to remember, however one lady kept saying only 2 tablespoons to that whole bag of cake mix?? Then she thought she was to put it into a cupcakes pan in the oven lol.
I think she finally got it, but still thinks it seems dubious

I have been doing these for years seems that recipe pops back up randomly.
It does work with the sugar free mixes too.

I just made my husband a spice 321 cake about 20 minutes ago.

I have enjoyed this so much.. My grandkids love the micro mac and cheese so I saved a couple of the bowls this came in and they work perfect. I run a knife around the cake and it plops right out. I bought some strawberries and boy was it ever good.

I made the lemon and it was very good. I made it twice and then gave the bag to Amber and she liked it. I plan to make up another flavor one of these days. Maybe just yellow and add other flavors to it.

OK, the angel food mix I have has a separate packet of egg whites to be mixed with water. Do you dump both packets into the combo or is there another type of angel food mix that doesn't contain this egg white packet?

Phyllis, the angelfood cake mix I bought came that way. I just dumped both bags in the ziplock, mixed them together then dumped the other cake mix and blended thoroughly.
