Even a broken clock is right twice a day. There's a guy on another gardening forum who's been saying for the past 3 years that a very cold winter was coming. Even though the 2 before this were incredibly mild (at least in the mid-Atlantic and south) is he now correct in saying "I told you so?" That being, I think this could be G-d's punishment for the folly of playing the superbowl in the Meadowlands.* BTW I have a huge prediction: one team will win! * one of the the world's great ironic placenames. 7thLegend, expecting 60 degrees and sunny here for the Superbowl. LOL! Not as cold in February as it used to be though. We will see. Don't place much belief in the Farmer's Almanac. Do they ever predict anything but cold and snowy for the Northeast in February?! As for the hurricane forecast, this certainly has been a very, very strange season! Was expected to very bad, but abnormally quiet! Probably one of he strangest seasons I can remember. Don't know what to make of it.--May be a very late season. Like X-Mas storms?! We had ours late last year--October 31st, name of Sandy.

Oh, gosh. Your poor mom! I'm sure football anything was the last thing on her mind, how sad to become at widow at such a young age. It had to be awful for you kids, too. I remember when the games would be blacked out in Milwaukee. Dad would pack the TV into the car, Mom would make us a huge picnic lunch and we would head for the Kettle Moraine State Park, where I guess the game came in from a different area, we could get it on the TV. He'd rent a space in the campground and set the TV up on a picnic table if the weather was nice or leave it in the back of the station wagon if it was drippy out and we would play along the beach of one of the lakes during half-time. And we always had a campfire, which made it extra fun for hot dogs and marshmallows. So I guess we sort of tailgated back in the 60's, too. With a TV. lol Those were definitely fun times! And who knew back then when they were taking us to Mauthe Lake that I would grow up and marry a man named Mautte! lol I just think that's such a funny coincidence.
