WELL, I thought I was done with raising Monarchs, right? HA! Yesterday I collected six 2nd instars, five 3rd instars, and four 4th instars (is that weird or what?) and then today I found four 2nd instars and one 3rd instar! Sheesh! My poor Milkweed...tee-hee! Hey, no worries, right? Now, how was it that I realized there were stilllarvae out there? I went to get some leaves for the TWO, yes, TWO cats that I had left when the little leaf bunch I'd collected and brought in turned out to have a *gasp* 2nd instar caterpillar munching away. I tell you, this has been the strangest past year for me with the Monarchs EVER. I guess I am making up for the year that I was busy with Tifanny's cancer. ;P

That sounds like CA! Last week we had a heat wave for 4 days with the high at 101. The week before we had frost and temps down to freezing at night. Now it is finally at more normal temps with 40-50's at night and 60-70's during the day. My tomato plants are huge, but I couldn't put them in the garden with the weather being a roller coaster like that. Weird weather lately! Clare

Honestly, I think they were ALWAYS the same size. Electrolux could not and would not make 2 different drums that are 0.1 difference in size. Insanity. It was all marketing....the 70 Series is more expensive, so let's say it is 4.4 and the 60 Series is 4.3. Both were the same, and are still the same :) Also, according to Sears and a local, authorized Electrolux sales center, both the 60 and 70 Series have a Max spin of 1400rpm. I loved my 70 Series and I love my 60 Series. The Specialty Cycles are identical, or near identical. Some differences are wording....Add More Water on the 70, Max Fill on the 60. The biggest difference is the User Interface. I like to say the 70 Series is like a BMW with iDrive (cleaner looking, and LOTS of hidden menus and options) and the 60 Series is like a Porsche (lots & lots of little buttons and labels). LOL Can't go wrong either way! The 70 Series Dryer though is leaps and bounds better than the 60 Dryer. 70 has PERFECT TUMBLE (must activate though under options)....reverse tumble, that prevents sheets and blankets from rolling into a tight ball during drying!

It's been 34 both Friday night and last night here in Minneapolis. Admittedly here in the South Side, I live in a heat island, but I have tomatoes and peppers both set out, already established and blooming and a very nice peach set on my peach bushes. Nothing took any damage Friday night and I am expecting the same from last night. Friday night it was windy which helps. From here on it warms up here and you all get what we just had. Time to seed beans and squashes is just around the corner. Next week I will be thinning the peaches! First real crop on these two types of seedlings. We shall see how that all comes out later this summer. I think if I were to do it all over again, I would just go with Contender, but these were intriguing. Normally I would not have a vegetable fruit set this early to worry about. It looks to me though like I will be seeing fruits on my sweet banana peppers and maybe on my tomatoes very soon. The two Bush Champions have been in the ground close to a month at this point (a real gamble that it looks like I will be getting away with this time - I couldn't resist).

48 and raining here, but I'm not really complaining. It's so nice not to be changing frozen hummingbird food every 90 minutes all morning, I haven't even brought the feeders in the last few nights.

It had looked like it was going to be a somewhat nice day, and a little after I got up I started getting 'heavy rain warning' emails from a service I subscribe to. Sure enough, within a few minutes, dark skies and pouring down rain. Always much to do inside though...

Hope the rest of you are warm and safe.

My nephew is driving to Idaho (from WA coast) to join his mom and dad at their vacation home for a couple of weeks, always worry about him driving through snowy passes alone, so I'll be tense today and will call him a few times to check on his progress. Big teddy bear, he'll be 22 next week.

So y'all don't wanna know Nashville is headed for lows in the 50s and highs in the mid-upper 60s within days?! I can't wait to get rid of my coat for a few days. Yahoo! And it'll be headed for you too. Soon. It's not over, but it sure as heck is winding down!

The sun is shinning brightly in SW. Pa. and some of the snow is leaving....But, come Sunday, I'm on a flight to FT. Myers and there better not be a trace of snow, sleet or any other nasty weather stuff, down there.......

43F at 5:40 in the afternoon. It's a heat wave. I would be happy but the little weather icon on my computer has a picture of snowflakes on it for tonight and tomorrow. Woo hoo. Another 4 inches. At least the fellow came and plowed me out from snowpocalypse. The power is back on from icepocalypse. I can shovel four inches myself.

Last night we had some impressive thundersnow. I thought it was a transformer popping!

The tree guy came and cleared all the fallen branches and I even got mail! My neighbors have been wonderful and have helped each other. The poor woman next door has walking pneumonia and another elderly neighbor is kind of dependent on the help of neighbors.

Temps in the high 40's next week! Whole lot of melting going on.

It is unusually hot here. In the 80s and more humid than usual. I will wait till the sun goes down to bake for grandsons' visit tomorrow.

Close to 40 we still have some snow, but melting away, has been rainy, dreary all day, looks like we have more rain for the next few days... I sure miss the sun, but at least it is not snowing......... Please hurry Spring (Idaho)

My older daughter posted this on her facebook page on Wednesday:

I am thankful that I work inside because Oklahoma suffered from a devastating heat wave today (I heard we hit 46 degrees F!) and I'm not sure I would have survived exposure to such intense heat for more than about 10 minutes. It was so hot today that goosebumps I've had since the first polar vortex have not only receded but gone inside so that I'm now head to toe dimpled.

49 here in Fayetteville, GA with a real feel of 43 and very cold wind but at least it is sunny with a clear blue sky.
