Changes here . . . .

I was surprised to see the changes here. I did see the note as soon as a I opened the site, but maybe a little notice a day or two ago might have prepared us for it.

How the site appears to you depends on which browser you use, and each one has helps for you use to make changes. I use Firefox and it looks odd, and I changed the font size to suit my vision, so it is okay. I think it looks like an old typewritten page from back in the day.

Questions: has the Gallery option always been there, and I just haven't noticed it? Several forums have that. This one is so outdated, don't know if it serves any purpose. And what is the purpose of the empty box up top?

I guess the reason for the changes is financial. Domains are super expensive, And way back, some of us were happy to pay for GW.

I hate being the only one to love the new look. It really does look more modern and updated.....Change is always hard to deal with..I just use the control key and the scroll wheel on my mouse to change the size of the font. Isn't there any one else who likes this look?????

This is not a perfect solution but you can do this whenever you visit the sites you want to change the background. In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Content and click on Colors button. Select grey for the "Background", and clear the checkboxes near "Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above" and "Use system colours". Click ok other browsers may have a similar setting. There are also several add ons for firefox that allow changes to colors Stylish is one, Stylish 1.3.1 and Color That Site! 0.15 oh No Squint also allows you to change background color per site and also increase font size and colors. Um, well, I have 8 cows. And a horse, and 21 chickens, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I do like my animals. (grin) Plus 200 asparagus crowns that needed the ferns trimmed today because it's going to be raining tomorrow and then highs in the 20s after that. People have been coming to cut Christmas trees, we have the "cut your own" thing but someone always needs change or a saw or help. We'll set hay tomorrow because I'm going out of town for three days (but driving home every evening) for some "Ag" classes, but I'll have to come home early on Wednesday evening because I'm secretary of our Township Planning Commission and we have a 7 pm meeting. The farrier is coming Tuesday and Elery is on his own for the first time for that. I need to bake cake for 100 by Sunday for Madi's birthday and an anniversary cake for Saturday for an elderly friend and his wife, 66 years of marriage. Then next week we start on Christmas baking because Elery's family Christmas is the 16th and we're taking ham, beef, lasagna, apple stack cake using his Mother's recipe, plus cookies and fudge. I need to bake a birthday treat for Elery's grandson Jack, he's 10, and we'll give him his birthday present at the Christmas party, but he's 10, he needs a cake or something so his birthday doesn't get lost in the Christmas shuffle. Oh, and I need to make fudge to send to California for Elery's oldest son and their family. Fortunately for me, I can sliced apples and freeze fruit already sliced or peeled or whatever, so I really can make a 10 minute pie if I have to. It's not as much fun and it's sure not fancy, but it's pie and it'll do in a pinch. Today, though, I made date filled cookies for no reason other than Elery likes them. They aren't the prettiest cookie on a plate, but they sure taste good! Annie

Kitchen Table Folks, If everyone used the little symbol in the upper right of posts to indicate the Miscagegorized multi category posts, they’d get an idea of how widespread and disruptive that has been. Pick 5 forums at the middle or bottom bottom of the list and go through them. Try to pick a few obscure ones. The only way they know the depth of the issue is if they have to deal with the issue. One topic=one category! Design Dilemma posts should be in the individual GW forums. GW should swallow Houzz. Not the other way around! If everyone who has an tech issue with the GW integration would post in the Using Houzz Forum with a new post stating their problem, and then post in this thread to keep the thread numbers growing, they might realize how widespread the issues are. https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5342444/new-look-for-gardenweb-topics#n=354 Post on their Facebook page too. They won’t be able to keep up with the numbers of complaints. They don’t have enough people. Numbers rule.

No, I think it looks better the color it is. Your siding looks like it could be stained, rather than painted. I would leave it for now at least, and put your dollars into something over the front door for a shelter, over the steps. Would be nice if you could make it big enough for a chair or two, but, even a small one would be great, and paint your door a nice brighter color, and add some color to your landscaping. I think you will be much happier with the looks of the house after that. Hopefully congratulations will be in order before too long.

I like it just fine. I always prefer reading sans serif fonts on a screen and I like that the whole thing is centered on my screen rather than being off to the left.

Well, as I stated earlier.....I dislike it a lot! I've opened it in chrome now, it's larger and left justified, but NOW I GET ADS, which I didn't with IE (got adbloc). I'm never going to be happy with this change, I fear!

It's ok now that i found kitchen table but i really had to search to find it. I put it in my favorites so it will be easy to find.

Phyllis, AdBlock works with Chrome. Install it, and you won't get the ads.

I like it too. Much easier to read.

For you who like Chrome and are getting ads, here's a link for Adblock plus. Download from Chrome browser.

If they wouldn't use the pastel fonts it could be great I cant even buy magaines anymore they think it is easy to read light blue or pink or yellow they did stop the center justification

Seems a tad 'clutered' to me, but I can live with it. I'd guess they are going after 'fresh'.

After posting this, I went to CompHelp and found that Raven had posted about making changes on the site. I use Firefox so I'm copying that one. I'm sure she won't mind if I post it here. I changed my background to a darker grey, and chose Comic sans for my font. I like it better now.

I don't mind at all I also listed some add ons for Firefox that allow you to change colors and fonts, with those you can choose to change just one site others individually, or globally.

color that site, stylish, no squint are add ons to check out.

Using Opera the only difference I see is the junk at the top. I still use fit-to-width and the sizing fills the screen from where the ads were. No font color changes here.

I opened it up in Firefox and Chrome to see what others are seeing. I imagine some will like it and some won't. I'm not impressed. To me, form should follow function. They're going the way of so many that want to make it "pretty" before making it functional.

If they would just change the screen color. Even to the light green used on the background, instead of this stark white. Too hard on eyes.

More changes on the way. GW has been listening. Read the update called An exciting update from Gardenweb, at the top of the page. They have been reading our suggestions.
