We eat around 5-5:30. We have about 7 inches snow here in WV, and our furnace is out, but a guy coming today. We have little elec heaters, all is well. Made chicken soup!!

We don't have a set dinnertime, but often around 7.,,if DH is hungry, he'll say so but usually he's open to whatever time it ends up on the table. If it's 7 and I'm still in the garden and nothing is started, he might complain or ask what he can do in the kitchen to begin ;)

The first 10 years we were married, I didn't get home from work until 6.

I really don't eat lunch and my husband eats his early so we eat the evening meal about 4:00. I want the kitchen cleaned and ready to have my tea by the 5:00 news. I sleep better, less acid reflux. I used to laugh at my parents for eating so early. I'm ashamed about that now.

My body is still on daylight savings time. I am starving by 4:30, so we often eat that early, but usually between 5-5:30.

It depends on what is going on here. I like to have it over with by 6.

When my diabetic MIL lived with us for a month we had to eat exactly at 5 pm. Now that she is back home we are at our normal dinner hours which is most often between 5:30 and 6:00.

When DH had an hour's commute to work in Chicago we ate around seven. I'd meet his train a little after six. He wanted to get out of his suit and tie and sometimes 'shower off the day' before dinner at seven.

Now I have dinner ready to be eaten between 6:00 - 6:30.

We usually eat at 6. I keep trying to move the time earlier; just doesn't happen until after the National News (west coast edition) is over.

6PM. We get home around 4:30 and it's about enough time to relax, change clothes, rest a bit and then start on dinner.

6:30 a.m. for breakfast; noon for the mid-day meal (our large meal of the day); and 6:00 p.m. for the evening meal. I'm OK with 5 minutes on either side of that, but beyond that 5 minutes...look out!

I try for 5-5:30. I don't like eating dinner later than that, the evening is so short after doing dishes......well hubby does the dishes. But I still snack, especially like a bowl cereal before going to bed. :(

In the winter when we are not working we eat around 4:00. When we are working it depends on what time we get home. I need to shower first & then get dinner ready.

I love eating early so everything is done at a reasonable time & I can sit & watch the news.

When I worked, it was 6. Since I've retired, it's moved back to around 5pm.

If DH has lunch we would eat the evening meal between 5 and 6. Lots of times he gets home late from golf or softball and we have lunch/dinner combo at 3 or 4. Sometimes we go out at that time, other times I cook.

Depends when I come home from work: usually between 4-5. I don't eat much lunch so I'm usually pretty hungry. I like to eat and clean up before the evening news; then I settle down with an after dinner glass of wine.

One of the nice things about being single is you can eat anytime you feel like it!

Evening meal is always supper for us, always has been. Dinner is usually at noon, especially if it is a bigger meal.

Since I stopped working, my wife and I take turns cooking as we always did on weekends. The sharing isn't quite equal, it's about 60/40.

My meticulous former neighbor had a boy three years older than her twins. She ran a tight ship. Once she'd cleaned up after dinner, she was 'off work' and The Kitchen Was Closed!

We're flexible. Never before 6 pm and sometimes as late as 9 pm, but normally around 7. It just depends on how hungry we are and if Woody is home or out fishing.

I'm retired and I'm in charge of meals, so we eat anytime I like. Could be 3 in the afternoon or eight at night.

No flexibility here unless it is something really, really important. "Supper" is at 6pm sharp! I am very, very, good at getting the complete meal set out on the counter promptly at 6. We fill our plates at the counter and DH takes them to the table.

I give him a 10 minute before the hour warning by saying, "you should be in the kitchen getting ready". You wouldn't believe the things he suddenly is 'compelled' to do on his way.

He will check the tv listings, change into his evening loafing clothes, does his blood sugar, then may decide to update his blood sugar log with the last 2 weeks results. While filling his insulin syringe he will decide it's time to change to a new bottle and replenish the syringe supply from a back room closet. Gets side tracked while washing his hands and may decide that now is the time to clip his nails etc, etc.

Once in the kitchen, now may be the time to refill the water jug, pick the label off an empty pill bottle, or wash a pot or two. Meanwhile, I have filled my plate and am sitting at the table waiting for him to bring my now barely warm food. Drives me crazy!

Since it's just me and the dog, I wish I could be flexible and prefer to eat later, maybe 7 or 7:30, but that darned dog is such a creature of habit that at 6 he starts the stare-down, and I feel compelled to get him his dinner, so while I'm in the kitchen, I might as well have mine.

I rarely have anything that I have to cook, and prefer something very light (and my cheap red wine - for medicinal purposes, you know!). Eating later helps to keep me from snacking.

Usually between 4:30 and 5PM. Unless we have special plans or company.

I thought I posted here yesterday, but I must've forgotten to hit the "Submit" button again. Sigh!

We used to always eat at 7 because we worked and because we liked to watch Jeopardy during dinner. But now I may eat anytime between 3 and 6.

My mother was always inflexible and it was sad how unhappy she made herself. Supper was served at 5:00. Period. She had a husband who could barely get home in time to meet her arbitrary schedule and he suffered for it. She did not work, by the way.

When we kids became older and involved in after school activities, we had to go without. She 'd have it ready at 5:00 and if we weren't home, dinner was thrown away or put in the freezer. Weird, I know. Those of us who happened to be home in time could barely eat a bite because of the wrath that filled the room.

I remember Dad on many occasions cooking up a batch of bacon, eggs, or pancakes for those of us who couldn't meet her rigid schedule " with mom furious in the living room. We cleaned up, believe me. She later regretted her behavior, blaming her own mother's strict rules for her decisions. Too late.

I'm pretty sure that those memories are why I have such a relaxed itinerary in the evening, so it all worked out. Same with my brothers.

What the HECK brought all those memories up? Lol

We eat only when we're hungry so I have an idea of what I want to serve and ask about five when he'd like to eat. Amazingly we both always are or are not hungry at the same time. That's what 55 years of marriage do to you.

rhizo, my memories of a typical dinner time are not pleasant as well: fraught as they were with tensions and anger. How I envy families who actually break bread together in healthy conversation and joy! It makes a huge difference in one's life.

Often have breakfast late, and if I'm busy in the garden or doing other things, or away... no lunch, or just something like a cup of milk.

Usually 5 - 6 if I'm at home; if I'm out, e.g. at library, which often closes at 8, I eat after I get home.

Seldom have digestive problems ... but it may add another layer of fat to eat so late, I was going to say, "just before going to bed" ... but I'm often up till 2 or 3, so maybe that makes the added layer of fat ... thinner?
