My best friend, Linda, died today. Thank you for all your prayer

Thank all of you for your prayers. Linda died at 3:45 p.m. today. She had had a heart attack, respiratory failure from the heart attack and her brain was swollen. Now her daughter, Noelani, needs lots of prayers. Yesterday she didn't want to let her mother go and said she would take care of her but the doctor explained that she was not going to make it. I called the church this morning to call our friend and Bible Study leader and he got there about a half hour before she died and said a prayer. she slipped away peacefully.

They lived in section 8 housing but it was a new place and nice. But Noe won't be able to afford to stay there by herself. They were/are on Medicaid.
When Noe was born they gave her too much oxygen and she was blind in one eye and very limited sight in the other. She is also a little "slow". She's not retarded and can do a lot of things and keep track of her money and helped take care of her mother. She is so sweet and kind and a good Christian. She's almost 50. The biggest problem is that they kept taking in stray cats. There are 5 there now and she doesn't want to leave any of them and no one wants to take her in with all those cats. The landlord had said they could have 2 but . . . .

A cousin will stay with her tonight and they will get her papers together and call the funeral home. They had just gotten home yesterday from getting her birth certificate.

It's been a hard day for me. We had been friends for years and before she got sick and her leg withered and became a club foot (The doctors didn't really have an explanation for that) we ran around a lot ~ shopping, lunch, laughing and joking in her old clunker. When I couldn't see well enough to drive my car anymore my daughter would take us out and take them to doctor appointments and shopping and the bank. She used to always give me pedicures because she loved to give people pedicures. She got too shaky this last year to do it anymore. '

Thanks for listening and thank you for your prayers. Since I can't drive or get out much anymore she was my last friend and I'll miss her but I know she is in heaven running and leaping and rejoicing. We talked just last week about how she didn't want to be on life support and how she was tired of being pretty much bedridden or in a wheelchair now and had to wear diapers and those UGLY heavy shoes when she went out ~ to help her stand enough to get from car to wheelchair and vice versa. Not that she was anticipating dieing any time soon.

Oh, how sad this is, Dorothy. Noe has some very hard times ahead of her and some tough decisions to make. I wish the very best for her in all things. And I'm so very sorry for your terrible loss.

My mother passed away April 13th 2022. she raised me and my sister, as a single mother. she worked 2 jobs to ptovide for us, but we took her for granted as children. When the mother of my 2 children passed away in 2016, my mother moved in with us. My mother helped raise my daughter(16 now) and my son(15 now) for almost a decade. My mother was more than just my best friend, she was my only friend. i have complex PTSD, and she was the only one that i trusted enough to talk about the war with… she went with me to the VA, when i had to. she gave me strength, she always seemed to understand things that other people either couldnt or didnt want to understand… my dog died about a month before my mother did… 2022 has taken a lot from me and my 2 children… they saw her as a mother, as much as me… i go from feeling numb to feeling deep sadness and loss… i don‘t want to give up, but i always needed her support. she died from cancer, after being on immunotherapy for 2 years… she suffered from many side effects, for most of her treatment. she became so thin near the end that it was painful to see her like that… i was with her until the end, and it may sound strange but i held her for some time after she died and just sobbed onto her… i talk to her still thst she is dead for months, but i still wake up thinking that she is alive… i beli my mother is in heaven, but selfishly i just want my mom back… i miss my only friend… i miss the only selfless person that i ever met… i feel so empty, and i did not think that id feel so lost… she gave me direction when i didnt know what to do… i hope this posts, it does give comfort to know that i am not a

I just got off the phone with Angie's DH-he said her Dr. thinks it was either a massive stroke, heart attack, or embolism. They are doing an autopsy this week. I have been in a daze today, I just feel so awful. Thanks for all your kind words.

Here's an update sent this morning. ----------------------------------------------------- Want to say "THANK YOU" for the prayers, God is working--he had hives, they gave him Benadryl, which completely cleared up the hives and the Dr's were amazed, they thought it would only help with the itching. He had a rough night but this morning woke up hungry. The dr's said he is producing the toxin but all of his "numbers" were up/potassium, kidney, etc. so they are pleased but will keep a close watch on him until Saturday so he is still not out of the woods but at this point he is much better and God is answering the prayers.

Oh, Tib, yes, that's so true . . . and a lovely thing to hold on to. My mother, in less than 2 years, went from a very athletic, strong, woman much younger than her years, to a crippled shell of that woman who could not even do the most basic things for herself. But, through it all she kept her brilliant mind, her wonderful sense of humor, her kindness and caring for us all. The last to go was her voice and her ability to swallow. This disease, BTW, is called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Anyhoo, a few weeks before she passed, my sister (the RN) was sitting in front of Mom trying to hear what Mom was saying. Sis was very stressed out and concerned for Mom and thought she was trying to tell her something very important. Mom repeated it several times before she broke into a silent belly laugh. Sis put her face right next to Mom's and (finally) heard what she was saying, "I think I may be pregnant." They both laughed hysterically with that one! That was our mother, though, always so thoughtful of everyone's feelings. She wonderfully succeeded in distressing Sis and sending her home with a smile. And gave all of us yet another happy memory of our sweet mom.

I'm so sorry, Dorothy. It would be hard to lose such a fun friend. Sure was hoping for a better follow-up. Please try to keep us updated on what Noe will do now. I hope she has caring family around.

What a lovely description you've given us of your dear friend!

We know you will miss her and miss her, but in some circumstances death is the kindest gift. You've lost a friend, but I see you are grateful that Linda is now free of her previous troubles -- and will not have to endure the effects of this final blow.

My sympathies. I hope the KT can ease your loneliness following this loss.

Since Noe is in low income, can they not adjust her rent to her income only?
Are there any organizations that you can do the "leg" work on to get her some assistance/counseling for the changes in her life?
