Comments (11)thanks Karyn :) GG, It wasn't funny at first for Duke to be slamming head first into everything, I kept cringing and yelling "Oh!..ooo!..watch out!"..lol I thought for sure he was going to run into something and poke his eye out. But it did get funny as time went on. I was laughing when he went up the back steps, and he was pushing on the wall with his nose, thinking it was the door, lol. That darn wall just wouldnt open for him..yet the door 6" to the left was wide open. I had to grab his head and point his nose where to go. yes, my poor Arbor. First it was the arch that went down from TS Hannah..now this. Was my fuirst year with that arbor..I really liked it. I am hoping that all the garden bad luck has all hit this year, and is over with. Hopefully next year it will be all good. *knock on wood* thank you, but the pumpkins are nothing really. Halloween is my fav holiday..I have only NOT dressed up 1 yr in my life. But sadly, this is the first year I am not decorating. I dont even know where half of them are, and I just havent had the time. Last year my decorations were on the tv on the news, lol. The reporter came to my area for a dif story, but was impressed with the decorations, so he stuck some decoration shots in the story as well after my interview, lol. My gravestones were tied into the story as well. He called them "morbidly funny" in the news segment. I'm rambling now.....See MoreSL Old Ivy Modifications and Critique Please
Comments (12)Thanks so much for the comments: kelhuck - I would definitely increase the garage to fit our cars and to allow for ample storage space. Depending on how we modify the downstairs, I will need to move the upstairs a bit. The laundry and loft would become a bedroom, and I was considering taking a few feet from the master and combining that with the 4 feet of added space and making a long storage area or possibly 2nd laundry. Great point about the bathroom linen closets. Downstairs we would probably remove the bathroom next to the living room completely to make a place for the basement stairs, although we've considered the possibility of having the basement entry in the living room, which I know isn't optimal but do-able. athens - although I do find the exterior beautiful and classic, I've also always been drawn to the exteriors with a gable in front and a porch off to the side, similar to these...See MoreSmall simple farmhouses-bathroom off kitchens-anyone have?
Comments (20)My older sister lives in an 1850s farmhouse which has a bath off the large kitchen. The door faces the basement entrance in a very small hallway which leads to a bedroom. It is full sized, but only about 8x10. Spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with them, and it really wasn't a problem. The other half of the kitchen serves as a dining room. If you want weird--my own house was built in 1907, with a pantry and small back porch--neither of which was converted to a bathroom. However, there is a full bath upstairs with original fixtures, and a half bath (well, a sink with a wooden counter, and a toilet enclosed with beadboard planks under the stairs), but the strangest of all--the only closet on the first floor--an alcove in the hall next to the kitchen, and facing the basement stairs and side door--had a toilet installed for the convenience of a previous elderly owner! No door either, just a curtain rod which had a shower curtain on it when I bought the place. My very first task: to remove the carpet from the hall floor, then remove that toilet and make it a closet again! Despite this being done 21 years ago, I still have the 6" drain hole in the floor, because my cats love to stick their heads through it to watch me do laundry in the basement! :)...See MoreLooking for faucet-vessel mounted sink, handle on top, pull out spray.
