Movie to Enjoy: "Chef"

We split this move between yesterday and today. High energy. Upbeat. It held our attention throughout. It's rated R, probably for some 'bad words' -- and the story illustrates why it's unwise to use them. There's some guy-to-guy guff, but so what? I think a family would enjoy seeing this together.

Thanks Sue. Georgysmom saw it last spring, and recommended it as well. She said that it was not a movie to see when you're hungry!

I'm wanting to see 100-foot Journey. Hopefully this or next weekend.

I rarely post in KT forum, but had to chime in on this post to say how much I loved this movie! It was such a good movie!!!

Thank you so much, rych! Since I will not have a range oven, these will become my primary ovens, so I think that I will go with the XXL. But the silly question that I have is, would people expect me to have a 30" oven when I sell the house years later? I know, I should just get what I want and need, rather than the resale needs, but it is on my mind... BTW, how do you like the plumbed in version? If you were to do it all over again, would you still go with the plumbed in version, rather than the non-plumbed version? Thanks for pointing out that about the Speed Oven.... the probe is probably not that important to me. The fancy one has the Master Chef menu which looks nice but I don't think that I will use it much either.... for a difference of CAD$1500 I am wondering if I should go with the cheaper one.... hmm..... BTW, how do you like the induction range? If I am not incorrect, Miele's induction range does not have the bridging function - does that matter at all? How do you like the Miele induction system overall? Thank you again!

He was a very good actor. His dramatic work was good as well as all the funny stuff he did. I loved seeing him cook. What passion! He'll be missed. Lou, when you make a post after you type your message you hit the preview part, then down below the part where you could change your message a section comes up that says optional link url. That's where you put the www stuff. Right below that you can put a name to the link. Yeah, Tina.. it's pretty far. He's in Minneapolis. I was able to spend 2-3 weeks a month there in the spring and summer but it's just not possible or practical now. He'll come here in a month or so (very much dependent on when I move.. I don't want him here when I am trying to downsize/pack). We arent really TV people either-- though I watch more now than I ever did. He doesn't even have a tv set up anymore! We *are* movie people but the TV series format is so much better for our situation-- we don't have to go through the selection process and a movie is just a little too long. The receiver gets warm on your ear after 1.5 hrs! I am excited to start Homeland. The first season isn't on demand but he can access it on comcast online-- and I've downloaded the first season from Amazon Prime (I prefer to watch on TV with the roku).

I recorded, then stayed up late watching both shows last night. I was glad at the outcome, but I would have been glad with any of them winning. I had never heard of Hubert before this show, but have always liked both Chiarello and Bayless. I was a bit disappointed at Chiarello in the episode where the previous contestants from Top Chef came back to be sous chefs. But I wonder how much of the arrogance they showed him having was the editing. As for the finale, I loved the challenge they had to do. What a brilliant idea. I bet it was fun for the chefs to do, too. It's too early to tell about the new Top Chefs. I just hope they keep the bickering to a minimum. One of the things I loved about Top Chef Masters was there was little to no bickering, and everyone enjoyed each other's company. Sally

We liked that movie too! Still haven't seen 100 Foot Journey but it's on my to watch list.

ok, these two movies go to the top of my 'must watch' list! I love foodie movies -- though sometimes wish they had consulted with a good 'technical advisor' for some of the plot/dialog/setup. lol!

I see very few movies but I did see Chef and loved it. Really enjoyed the 100 Foot.... too. Hmm, is there a pattern here?

Yes to Hundred Foot Journey as well as Chef.

You fellow watchers of British TV series may have also enjoyed Pie In The Sky.
