Watching the Golden Globes

Wow, I have seen so many beautiful gowns. I don't think I can pick a favorite. I was disappointed by Julia Roberts' dress and I thought Lena Dunham's was such a poor choice. I don't watch her show but I don't get her style at all.

200 to 1000 eggs per bag? Wow! I must have pulled off about 200 little bags, but only 2 fully grown bags. At so many eggs potenially developing in each bag, if I had ignored them and not picked them off; next year, they might have infested all my Golden Globes. It is also good to find out that Seven dust attracts spider mites, that Malathion has a short residual affect and that Orthene (Acephate) has the potential to be effective for about a week. I used to think all that need to be done to control bagworms was to just pick them off, and better yet to simpy not plant anything which would be a good host for bagworms. Over time my thinking changed on both those points and now here I am having to fight against bagworm attacks. Once again, it's been a readjustment time for me, in my landscaping values, since I have seen how many of those bags I had to pick off on that one Golden Globe on which they killed everysingle leaf. Amazing how that defoliated little shrub is still attempting to regreen. Some of the nearby Golden globes in the hedge are also showing more leaf browning than normal, and I did remove some bagworms from them, but it surprises me as to how many of those shrubs continue to suffer even more browning even though I have not found anymore bagworms on them for the last week or so. Even though I also am attempting to keep their soil moisture at a better level, which is a thing that I failed to do previous to this current infestation hit. Never previously considered how many eggs those bags could contain. As you can tell, I have avoided planting junipers in my yard because our climate is too harsh for them and I do not want to deal with bagworms. Guess once I found that my Thuja Green Giants aren't attacked by bagworms, and a screen of them has grown for me so long with no pests attacking them, my choice to plant these Golden Globes must have been because I gained some inappropriat optomism. Oh well as mentioned above, the bagworms also have not attacked my Golden Globes every year. Thanks again for the help; so I can make better choices on how to prevent loosing my shrub hedge of Golden Globes.

i am thinking.. you start digging about 3 feet radius out ... from the trunk ... so that you are left with about 2 feet wide ...and two down ... at a min ... you say 1.5 radius ... so i guess you are talking a 3 foot wide ball at the top ... which sounds about right... do you have any idea.. how much clay weighs???? .. you must be younger than i am.. and i aint old... lol ... never start digging.. where you want the ball to end up ... i would also suggest.. you dig 90% of the new hole first .... so it doesnt sit out of the ground.. while you have a heart attack from draggin it across the yard... lol... but dont go too deep ... you can easily adjust down.. but you dont want to have to hoik that monster out of a second hole .... i would never work this hard.. sentimental or not .... ken

I didn't mean to suggest that I liked Nicole Kidman's dress; actually, I thought it was too much. I rarely like Versace, I think. Suzieque, I know what you mean about Nicole. She's really beautiful, but sometimes she looks so artificial and a little scary. She's probably had some "work" done (her lips, definitely), but part of it may be her own anxiety. Just guessing here. But I remember an interview (after her divorce) in which she said she had no sexual confidence. She didn't always look like this. When she first came on the scene with Tom Cruise she looked so fresh and happy, and she spoke on talk shows in a free and easy manner. Something changed. Pammyfay, I missed the first part of the show. Diane Ladd's reaction would have been nice to see. I didn't see Andie MacDowell's daughter either. Would have liked to. George? He was stunning. :-) But you know what? I find Morgan Freeman just as appealing. He's hardly as conventionally handsome . . . but it just shows that personality and character do have something to do with chemical attraction. Sometimes. LOL

Many gorgeous gowns ..Selma Hyak , Jodie, Heidi looked great. I may be the only one that doesn't care for anne Hathaway's short hair ..and agreed with the color she chose. On tv shows, everyone seemed to love Katherine ..or was it Jennifer Alexander's red gown . The bodice looked weird to me and seemed orange to me. Stacy Kubler looked great too

Some gorgeous gowns on the carpet this year. I was underwhelmed by Julia's dress, but thought her hair and make up was perfect. I thought the actress from 12 Years a Slave, wearing the red dress/cape was the most stunning of all.

Ditto Lena Dunham's unfortunate choice.

I can't say I'm crazy about the trend of hair puffed straight up from the forehead. Lots of other nice hairstyles though.

Sosie Bacon is such a pretty girl.

And I always like Tina and Amy.

I knew this was on tonight, but totally forgot about it until about 6:15 (it started here at 5:00). So, we missed the arrivals, Tina and Amy's opening bit, and several awards. It's going to be repeated on TNT on the 17th, so I'll watch the beginning then. And I have the DVR already set to record Fashion Police tomorrow night!

Wish I had read this last night. I missed the whole thing. I was so busy reading, I didn't realize the Golden Globes was even on last night. I will at least catch the Red Carpet on E since they are repeating it this morning. The Golden Globes is one of my favorites though.

I usually only watch the entrance to see all the beautiful gowns.

I didn't watch last night, and now I will probably never again watch any of the awards shows after they honored Woody Allen.

I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but have been looking at the pictures of the gowns this morning. Lots of beautiful dresses. I was happy to see sleeves on many of them. Hopefully, that trend will come back for wedding dresses also.

I know Drew Barrymore's dress was considered one of the worst, but it is sort of my favorite anyway. I love how feminine it looks with the flowers and the trailing back part of the dress. The cut makes it look sort of frumpy. I think it would have looked better if it had longer sleeves and had been fitted a bit around the middle to give her some shape.

I'm not a Woody Allen fan either. I'm surprised they honored him in that way, knowing he'd never show up to accept the award.

I think Woody Allen is a film genius but also a pervert. The award goes to his many terrific films, but he still remains a pedophile, although he's been married to his victim for over 20 years.
