This is a good thread, very enjoyable. There are so many favorites, but two that are special to me are: 1. I'll Be Home for Christmas. My father would tell us every time that the song came on about how this was the song they played on the ship on his way to Germany during the Korean War. It became such a funny thing that when I was older, I would end up calling him when I would hear it and say "Dad, did I ever tell you about the time you were on a ship in the army and they played "I'll Be Home for Christmas?...well it's on the radio right now". What a great guy he was, miss him a lot. 2. "Oh Holy Night" a memory created only about 6 years ago--we were on a cruise for Christmas, and we were leaving St. Lucia on Christmas Eve, so standing at the aft of shift watching the island disappear, this was the song that was softly playing on the ship's PA system. Oh, the goosebumps I get. I still don't know if it was Celine Dion or Gloria Estefan singing it. So of course, I have both versions on my iTouch.

EllenP123 , I have been mulling over what to post since I read the above last week. I am sure you did not intend it to be humerus but I laughed reading that you" went to bed 49 and woke up 100". I have been struggling with horrific leg pain for over two years. I daily think holy moly how in the world do people with chronic pain function.Although I have been dealing with my leg pain for months I am not going to categorized it as chronic. My first reaction to my leg pain was to see an ortho specialist who dx the leg pain as stress fractures since I had carried over 900 pieces of granite over a two week period. Yup I counted them. The M.D. gave me a few packets of celebrex that was given to him by the pharmaceutical sales rep. I told the Doctor I am allergic to Aleeve. Alleeve makes me swell and I gained five pounds after three doses. I was smart and had removed my wedding band . It took a good week to reduce the swelling since Alleve has a long half life. Those who are allergic to aleeve are recommended not to take celebrex. I questioned the Medical Doctor who assured me I was misinformed. I took one dose on the way home since the leg pain was horrific. Within two hours I was a mess. It felt as someone was squeezing my heart. I did not need to be hospitalized but monitored . I no longer take Motrin since this is a sister NSAID of celebrex and Aleeve. My point is there are some majorly hubris doctors out there who screw up at your expense. I have had a few nights where I cry cause the leg pain is horrible. No position soothes the ache . I have tried rest, aspirin, warm soaks, ice packs, massage therapy,accupuncture and a dose of darvocet . I came across a book a few years ago about how the body is aligned in two parts. While attempting to find a position to relieve the pain I massaged my toes, foot pad, achilles tendon, tibia ,fibula, knee,thigh, hip ,butt and lower back with a tennis ball. What I figured out is that the pain is in my knee area but when I massage the upper thigh and achilles the pain goes away. A few years a go I had tennis elbow from shoveling the driveway for five hours. When I massaged the shoulder blade and my pectoral muscle the elbow pain disappeared. Pain is not simple . One must identify the source. For me the pain is due to overused muscles and menopause. I am tiny but can llft 60 pounds with ease. If you gave me 62 lbs I balk. I think for some the pain we are experiencing is the lose of estrogen so our tendons get brittle. I too went to bed feeling great and awoke with the crippling pain. What i found that works is to take care of yourself. Take breaks when doing your chores. Swim. Stay active. Place down pillows under your hip and knees at night. Take calcium with magnesium DAILY eat bananas three times a week. The potassium helps with any cramps MAssage your legs from toes to butt with a rolling pin or tennis ball. Make sure you stretch the ham strings( the rear thigh leg muscles). So after two years of several medical visits, accupuncture treatments and masseuse visits for me I figured out what works for me. Some who go into menopause never experience leg pain whereas others are crippled. I was 45 when the periods stopped. My male ob gyn said this was impossible. Sorry but not everyone is a text book case. I have had some wonderful male physicians but at this point in my life I need someone who is informed on a women's life cycle. THe key is to enjoy life. Drink the coffee if it makes you feel good. You will need to experiment with your diet , and supplements. I found that black cohosh did squat. Eating the bananas and religiously taking my calcium with Mg helps. You are not alone. Pilates helped too!!!!!! My mind is racing since I need to get my chores done. A sip of wine at night helps some. For me a little rhum took the pain down a notch. My best solution is the stretcthing and staying active. I am still in pain at times but I can manage it.

When I was a kid and it was late at night, I would lie in bed and hear footsteps...and my little heart would beat frantic until I recognized the sounds to be that of my Mother. Me, wanting to get out of bed and run and hug her, yet also stone as a statue, not sure if being awake that late would have indicted me. So, I just feel asleep sweetly knowing no forbidden creatures would harm me as the familiar sounds and scents were near. This is how Ancient Muse made me feelÂ Of cause I ran out and got a copy!

I have more than 1000 songs on my iTunes account, but I've curated 190 of them as my absolute (!) favorites, and those are the ones I work out with. My current fave is Marry You, Bruno Mars, which my husband and I danced to at our 50 th anniversary party. I also love Meghan Trainor's works, especially All About That Bass and Dear Future Husband. Even though I don't like her bad words, I also like some of Iggy Azalea's songs. I also like the oldies....Jimmy Buffet, Smoky Robinson, ABBA, Jim Croce, and many others. I like popular music!

Katlan, I like the Bon Jovi version, but lean more toward KD Langs from the Winter Olympics a few years ago....

There's so many. I wouldn't know quite where to start but In A Gadda Da Vida/Iron Butterfly would be near the top of the list....

Would any of you happen to remember the young man on America's Got Talent a couple years ago who sang Halleluiah? I don't remember his name but I do remember that he wore his hair in dreads. He didn't win, but he sang the most beautiful Halleluiah I have ever heard. I would love to hear it again.

Leonard Cohen, who for me is the most gifted lyric and song writer active during my lifetime, wrote Hallelujah. This as with many of his other songs was popularized by others, but no versions are more earthy or have more feeling than when he sings his own creations. In my opinion. There are a few different performances available to see on YouTube.

I love too many songs to have a favorite, but I thought I would comment on this one that seems to have a lot of fans. For good reason.

I have a million. But here's one: "Somewhere over the Rainbow", by Iz KamakawiwoÃÂ»ole. The world is a harsher place now that his smile and sweet voice is gone. He made a lot of people feel the love.

I have to put another. I just have too many that make me smile! Benjamen Ames' and his daugther's version of "Tonight You Belong to Me". Both her "...just little ol' me!" and shushing him, and his accompanying her with the mouth trumpet. It's all great.

Much to the dismay of my entire family, I also love the Monkees! o.k., there, I said it. haha. I hummed and sang Take a Giant Step to our son even before he was born. We clocked many, many hours in my bentwood rocking chair singing that song. True story, when he was about 10, we were driving somewhere and that song came on the radio....He said, "hey, I know that song." He couldn't say from where he just recognized it.

I also really like The Associations. A little before my time, but I have an older sis that played that album. "Never My Love", "Cherish", " oh my.......Oooo, and "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You/Going Out of My Head" by the Lettermen. Yep!

Someone Like You by Adele...beautiful.

I have lots of favourite songs, but the way I know my really favourite song is if it comes on the radio - then I turn it way up and sing along. Here are a few that I love:

Sounds like we're a lot of alike katlan! I was driving down the road and he couldn't have been more than 2. I hear "Sherry, Sherry baby!" coming from the backseat, at the right time. HA! He also liked to sing "Call me. Call me" at the end of Lean on Me by Bill Withers.

I used to sing Amazing Grace to my boy as a lullaby. One day, we were at the assisted living facility where my grandmother was, and they had a pianist who started playing it. When I joined in to sing, the boy covered my mouth... cause he didn't want to go to bed! Kids are funny.

I LOVE Leonard Cohen, but I always thought Hallelujah ( a masterpiece!) was the weirdest song to sing at the winter Olympics. Why??!!!! What does a man being broken by a woman have to do with downhill skiing? LOL I'm partial to Jonathan Coulton's version of Famous Blue Raincoat.

Other faves are Allison Sattinger (little known and AMAZING!!! I love So and Barefoot Mary). And Rich Mullins. How I adored that man. I love Sometimes By Step and Jacob and 2 Women. Sometimes By Step may be my favorite song ever.
