Minus 16C here in southern Alberta, no wind chill to speak of. But we have about 10 inches of new snow and it is still coming down. Yesterday it was minuse35 wind chill. I think I'll stay with the snow and today's temp, and skip the wind chill.

On the up side, I will be heading out snow shoeing tomorrow! Finally enough snow to go.

About 12 now, expected to be -5 in the morning. These are NOT the windchill numbers. :(

Too cold! Ten degrees tonight, plus wind, and below zero tomorrow night, with wind chills down to 20 below. Some of you have it much worse. Be careful out there!

After a very mild December, and no snow (we set a new record for the lowest snowfall in December), we are now getting winter.

Cold temperatures, -12C today, and tomorrow is going to feel like -31 during the day with the windchill. We're getting Prairie_Rose's cold weather :-)

It's not at all cold here, Washington coast. In fact, it was 30F warmer this morning than it was a few days ago at the same time, over 50 degrees outside.

Not a blessing. We had over 6" rain Sunday into Monday and much local flooding. My own house was fine but many are not, we're dealing with slides, mud, water damage in my community. Our nephew called for help with water coming into his basement (guest room, childrens playroom, laundry and mechanicals like furnace) at 3 AM Monday morning, DH got dressed and went. With a circulating pump to an ornamental pond that I still had (no pond, just the pump ;)), two shop vacs, they were able to keep up and avoid real damage but many not so fortunate.

Been running below 0 for several days in ND, A minus 16 yesterday and wind chill in the minus 40-50. Stay warm and stay safe.

Cold in Kansas? Its cold in Wisconsin, too. I had to go out yesterday around noon and my Jeep's engine was slow to turn over. It was 1 F as I left my driveway. Later, it was 4 F. It is warmer tonight - got all the way up to 11 F. Got another snow last night: 1 inch of fine stuff.

Something strange has happened to our bird population. For 2 days, they have disappeared from my feeder and today, only a few were seen. In addition to the birds, under these conditions last year, 5 to 7 deer would visit my neighbor's yard at night. This year, only one or 2 have visited. (He puts out a bale of marsh hay for the deer to munch on.) Until last night, the deer had also disappeared

Did the wildlife pack up and move farther south?.

Wow, I just googled the lowest temperature in Kansas history and came up with - 40. The town is only 243 miles from here, but it is west and much colder there all the time.

Yikes, I don't envy any of you. I can't believe some of your temperatures. We hit 82 today, which is about 15 degrees warmer than usual but it's going to go back down later this week. It's 65 now at 7 PM.

Yikes! I thought it was cold here in the Shenandoah Valley. It is 20ð right now and the wind has settled down. Yesterday it sounded like the back of the house was being blown off. We are told it is going to get really bad, but they didn't say when.

Was bitter here today - felt like temp was -31o. It was painful; had a quick errand downtown and could barely shove a quarter in the meter. People really use our extensive skywalk system. Supposed to be worse tomorrow.

Not far from sushipup, it was nearly 80 here today. That's almost 20 degrees higher than normal for this time of year.

And waaay up in the northern part of central Ontario,its' close to -22 F tonight-not including that dastardly wind chill

Yea, my weather doesn't compare either. We're at 20something with it plummeting all day. 8 counties out of 95 schools is closing early, or just plain closed down today, due to the frigid weather, with another handful still closed from holiday break. So it could've been many more.

Teens tonight, and single digits tomorrow. Still not in the negative region. Sorry for y'all!

We have had a cold snap in Southern California and it is finally warming up. About 40 or lower at night and upper 70s in the afternoon.

23 at the moment, was 13 this morning....down to 7 tonight....this is not including wind speed, and our house is on a corner.

It's so cold we didn't even go to the dog park this morning and that's saying something...UGH! I think it was around 10 but it's colder now and the wind is blowing like a some bee***!

Yesterday we made history with a -52C windchill in our province!! Not the kind of history one wants to make. Today is better -9C and no wind.

Phoggie, I almost mentioned that to you. I live in Wichita and we got 9 inches in some parts of the city a few days ago. We lucked out and only got around 5 in my neighborhood. Our roads are clear except for residential streets.

Honolulu had a record low of 57F this week. South Maui's warmer. Our thermometer (inside) only hit 72F for a low one morning -- two blanket weather though. Windy, but bright sun.

At home near Chicago...not so nice. DIL is a teacher in the city, but no school for her today. DGS is off too. DH and I are hard pressed to remember *any* days our schools were closed when we were kids living in the Chicago suburbs. Whether it's 'climate change' or not, *something* has changed.

Our schools are closed today because of the cold. No need to feel sorry for us, we know how to dress for the cold. DS and I are going out to eat tonight because he got a gift card to a good restaurant from someone he worked for. They gave each of the 5 or 6 painters $50 gift cards.

I was all set to go to the grocery store this afternoon until I went out to the garage to get something......brrrr! I came in and checked weather.com...it said "17 degrees but feels like 1 degree." Guess I'll wait for the heat wave of 35 degrees on Friday!

Jasdip, It may be called an Alberta Clipper, but I promise you, I did not send it your way on purpose. Chinook rolling in tonight, short lived, doubt we will see temps rise above 0, but supposed to warm up to around -2C. I will do my best to send that your way instead. LOL

Even though it was bitterly cold today the sun shone bright all day. Glorious, actually. I shoveled this morning and the snow was light and powdery, lovely stuff.

2 degrees right now in eastern upstate NY. LOw tonight of -13. We have propane for heat. Price is killing us. Wearing fuzzy sox and heavy sweaters.

100 miles North of Phila it's 6 right now with a projected low of 2 tonite. It'll probably get below 2. It's just too cold.

Iowa is in the deep freeze, too. I think the man said it would get above zero this weekend? I don't put much stock in anything positive they say. It's too far into the future and no doubt will change. I've been gathering eggs twice a day. If I don't they freeze and crack. Still usable, though. And if they are too cracked the dog gets them. Makes her happy! I've "wasted" a few bales of hay using it as bedding/extra feed for the horses. They have a barn but the wind still finds its way in. I took a starving horse in last Sept. and I was really worried about him but he put on a lot of weight (not quite enough yet) and seems to be getting along fine. As long as he's not shivering, he's OK. I noticed they had broken a path to the automatic waterer. I hoped they would leave the shelter of the barn long enough to drink. And stay in the barn all the rest of the time! That way I have something to do twice a day - scoop frozen poop!

Lov_mkitchen, you have to speak to Prairie_Rose. She's been talking about the freezing bales of hay (the twine is frozen and your hands are numb) the automatic waterers, feeding the cattle, etc etc.

Winter on the farm is tough!!!!

I am cheating now. Parking the feed truck loaded with two bales in the heated shop right now, leaving it in overnight. It doesn't totally thaw the ice off the strings, but enough that I beat the war with them today. That and instead of trying to pull them off, once I cut them, I pull them enough that I can tie them to the bumper of the truck and let them pull themselves off as the bales are rolled out. LOL Bedding down the heifer calves today was a treat. No bale buster today, so DH rolled the straw bales around before going in the corrals to loosen the strings, I got them cut off and when he could no longer roll it out, I cut and kicked, cut and kicked until it was spread out. DH says I can be the new BaleBuster. LOL

Once BIL and SIL get back from their vacation, I am off bale duty! Just have to pack chop pails to the heifer calves and make sure the water holes are open. 6 more days........

My small squares are all inside the same building where I use them so no real problem for me. Getting to my pocket knife is the challenge! But, yeah, the numb fingers don't always work like I wish they would. I have to supervise the horses because the pony would steal all the starving horse's feed if I didn't. I keep his bucket of feed in the house from one feeding to the next. I figure he'll eat better if it isn't frozen. I'm only outside about 40 minutes twice a day and most of it is inside a building. Getting there is half the fun! Just hope my waterer doesn't freeze.

Every year I have a snow drift deeper than my crotch so I almost always take a header into it because I miscalculate the depth and can't get my leg/foot high enough to clear it to take the next step and end up tripping myself. I put up snow fence in hopes I could make that drift go somewhere else this year. It did. Now I have a drift in front of the horse barn. But I would have had one there anyway, I guess.

Eastern Ontario is going down to -30 tonight, not sure what the windchill will be though. Will "warm" up on Friday to a balmy -7.

I was going to complain about 14F here inthe Philly burbs but after reading some of these posts, I guess i won't. Going down to five tonight. My house gets so cold in windy weather. I need new windows. I am huddled under a down comforter.it is very old and full of holes. There are feathers everywhere, mostly on me. I am trying to get the courage to throw off the comforter and run upstairs to bed.

Colleenoz, I think I hate hot weather as much as frigid weather. Do you have humidity, too?

Central Virginia 13 deg F right now, with gusty winds. Dropping to 8 deg F overnight. Brrr.

It is 1 degree here this morning. Not sure what the wind chill is. Worked yesterday and moved my car in the afternoon so I wouldn't have to get into a freezing cold car...well...I still had to do that because even in the parking garage it was ice cold. Dreading going to work this morning. I walk from a parking garage to the hospital, which isn't far but when it's that cold and the wind is blowing it's miserable. My knees ache and I have asthma...the cold air isn't good for either one.

BRRRR cold has reached the south. Here in Marietta Ga this morning it is around 11 with the wind chill in the single digits. Sun is not out yet. Hopefully it will warm up nicely. No school delays in the Atlanta area but north of us there are 2 hour delays. The dog will not go out this morning. She is smart.

Yesterday jasdip may have sun, but we didn't near London - snowing and blowing, snow travelling just a bit under horizontally on the way down.

Was to go to a meeting of an investment group, one of about 45 across Canada, last night. I have gone monthly for about 15 years: local subscribers to what I figure to be Canada's best personal money management magazine: carries no ads, not slick and glitzy, pretty well all text. This month's copy arrived in today's mail.

The guy in the near end of the city with whom I often travel, chairs the meeting, was going.

A farmer a few miles beyond me with whom I sometimes travel wasn't.

When I took about 5 min. shovelling out my back door and the garage, my fingers were screaming.

I almost drove a couple of miles down the road to see what it was like ... but figured that if I got into trouble, I could be in deep trouble, rather quickly ... and, at my age - who needs that?

So - stayed home.

Attended the old guys' coffee hour at church this morning - about a dozen instead of the usual dozen and a half or so.

Got a couple of oranges, four bananas (need them to offset effects of a pill that I take), two bottles PB (on sale), bag of cookies (on sale) and a loaf of bread (reg. price).

With $10.00 in wallet, and a small amount of change ... left my tray of groceries, went to bank to get some pump-up for the wallet ...

... back to the store ... bill was $9.70!

Have some more (belated) Christmas ... holiday ... friendship cards to write, some start-up for tracking this year's activities, etc. to do this aft. (now 1:45).

When it gets into the low 40's and below, I hybernate. My muscles refuse to function in cold weather.

Forecast says we may get above freezing Sunday PM.

Yesterday was so cold, I assume below zero, because at 10:30AM it was 4, the car went crazy! It was revving really high when I would idle and then try to lurch forward. It had no heat. I assume belts just weren't turning right? Luckily, I only a mile left to go when it started that.

Ah, who needs heat when it's zero or less out? It was so cold yesterday, that 24 today felt balmy.

We are up to a balmy (?) 33ð right now (feels like 25ð) Wind is calm. Tonight will be down to 8ð (feels like 7ð) Who are they trying to kid? Come on Springtime!
