Some Hide A Hose, including 60' hose, answers
Comments (17)Hi...wanted to see if I could provide some clarification on the 60' hose question from the Vacuflo point of view. The key to the performance on the Hide-a-Hose is airflow at the end of the hose. You want to be satisfied that the turbine based (TurboCat) powerhead has enough airflow to spin properly. High sealed vacuum will compensate for the long hose runs and is therefore a greater indicator of performance versus Airwatts in this specific application. The MaxAir power unit was designed specifically with Hide a Hose in mind. All power units will lose airflow as length of the hose increases. Generally speaking, it is not unusual to have performance decreases 2-3% going from 30-40' and also when going from 40-50'. That is why it s a recommended practice when installing Hide a Hose is to oversize the power unit based on length of hose. When you increase the length of hose from 50' to 60', the performance can decrease as much as 22%...just with those extra 10'...regardless of the power unit size. During our testing, the Max Air maintained the HIGHEST level of airflow at each length tested (30, 40, 50 an 60') and was the ONLY power unit that maintained adequate airflow to operate a turbine at 60'hose length. My hesitance to recommend usage for ANY power unit at a 60' length is due in large to the greater performance decrease that occurs over 50'. Will it work? Yes. Do I think it is a compromise to the best functioning system? Yes. I think it is best to look at your overall application before evaluating. If you have no carpet in your house and can more economically afford one 60' hose, then I am more comfortable with that situation than one that would require turbine use. I hope this helps. Lastly....regarding the hose sock getting dirty... I have had really good success with placing an entire hose assembly, sock and all, in the washing machine with some old towels to clean it. It washes up quite nicely. Simply lay it flat to dry, in the sun preferably....See MoreVinyl wicker smell
Comments (10)First thing I did was soak it all down with zero perfume Febreze and let it dry in the sun. The next thing I tried was washing it off with antibacterial dish soap and water. I then hosed it all down and let it sit in the sun again. This smell just seems to radiate off of the furniture. If I leave it in a room the room will smell. I don't understand how vinyl can take on this odor. I could understand a natural product but I'm stumped as to how a synthetic material could take it on. My only hope is if I leave it bake in the sun for a few weeks maybe it will go away.....I don't have high hopes though. Even after removing it from the house I can still smell it in the room where it was 2 days later. I don't get it....See Moremr clean magic erase question
Comments (22)My absolute favorite use for the ME is to clean the textured handles on my refrigerator. Some paint can handle the ME, some can't (like the paint on the walls of my current home) I use the ME to clean my shower. I figure if I do a wall at a time (while I'm in there anyway), it won't take long, and I can keep up with it. Once in a while (ok, maybe after I've been slacking on my maintenance cleaning) I use another cleaner, but I don't really see much difference between the two. I have wondered if it's a good idea to use them on the glass doors. I do it anyway. There is that last little layer of water spots I just can't get off the doors, so I figure the ME can't be scratching it, or if it is, I won't know it until I decide I want to try some nasty chemical stuff to get the water spots off. I don't use it so much on shiny metal things though. (I read the box ages ago but don't have one right now)...See MoreLaundry question about body odor
Comments (10)Oxyclean is perfect for simple soaking. One of the suggested uses is to rewhiten antique lace tablecloths. What it is is a dry powder that releases hydrogen peroxide when wet. That's all it is is a portable, inexpensive source for lots of H2O2. The extra oxygen is released into the water and "burns up" and releases the oils and/or bacteria causing stains and odors. I sweat at night and my pillow becomes stained. There is an odor but not one that drives people out of the house. Anyway, the oxygen cleaner takes that stain out. I used to collect t-shirts when I visited places. All those now have (or had) yellow stains on them. The Oxyclean took those stains out, too. For something as small as a bustier, I would put a teaspoon of dry oxygen cleaner (there are other brands besides Oxyclean) into a half a sink of the hottest water you have. Then if you think the garment will be harmed by hot water, let the water cool some, but it needs to be hot at first to release the peroxide. Then I would soak for 8 hours, but I soak everything for 8 hours (over night) just to be sure. Then wash as you would normally....See MoreUser
