Stuffed Green Peppers in the oven = happy hubby. I don't like them, so he doesn't get them often. I'll pick at something in the fridge.

Roast chicken from Costco

Still good grilling weather here in Nor Cal, so I've got two flank steaks marinating, one for tonight's dinner and the other for sandwiches tomorrow. Tossed green salad with balsamic.

Georgysmom, you can't beat the price of the costco chickens. I usually get enough meat to make 3 different meals for me and DH.

We went out to dinner tonight at a place we have never been before. Pecos grilling company in Tomball. I don't eat steak but husband loves it so he had the porterhouse and baked potato, I had fried pork chops and baked potato. Omg I have never seen so much food on a plate. There were 2 enormous chicken fried pork chops a good sized potato and onion straws. I couldn't even eat half of one pork chops. My plate when I was done looked almost like I hadn't eaten! I have enough food for 3 meals left. I wish I had taken a picture of that plate. It was fantastic and extremely tender, great breading.
Hubby kept making mmmmm sounds lol he ate everything on his plate and said he wants to go back there for his birthday which is this month.

I haven't been eating much since I have been sick this was good but way more than I could ever eat.

My guess is we will be back.

Ang, I like the insides of stuffed peppers..but we don't eat them..I've never made them either..and I like peppers too...hmmmm...wonder why I've never made them...cabbage rolls the same way...

Gmom, who doesn't love Costco roast chicken? Lol...I even make stock from the carcass..makes my $5 go even further. ;)

Now wait a minute are you talking noon time meal or evening. Cause to me dinner is noon meal and supper is what I call the evening meal. Which I know a lot of people who do call the evening meal dinner.. Now that is straight in your mind I baked up 5 old hens that I butchered yesterday. Which these are grown 100% organic or free range. Bluntly NO COMMERCIAL FEED. The taste is oohhh sooo delicious. I really can't stand the taste of a store bought chicken anymore. So dinner today was baked chicken cottage cheese and string beans. Now for the interesting part. I take all the meat off the bones and place them in small freezer container Not a lot of meat to each container since their is only hubby and I. Then I cover the chicken with the broth and freeze it. After it freezes I pop it out and put it in the seal a meal, label and date it. When spring and summer comes and I get busy gardening or building our greenhouse and don't have time to cook. I'll take a pkg of my frozen chicken out of the freezer and heat it up, then I can make either chicken soup, chicken and noodles, chicken and rice, or chicken salad, or well you get the idea. There is a lot of different foods I have made in large quantity just for the quick meals I'll have on hand. The seal a meal will not seal liquid so in the state of being frozen it works great. Why don't you leave it in the plastic container?,, you ask.. Cause that container can get knocked around in freezer and crack. one more reason the seal a meal removes all the air and the air is what really causes the freezer burn. This way it can last for up to 2 years. One other food I like to cook a lot of is my home grown turkeys. After the butchering is done and the meat has cooled I take it all off the bone raw grind and mix it with bacon, make patties and grill them after they have cooled place them in seal a meal bags. usuallly 2 to the bag. Then in the winter I can have grilled turkey burgers without going outside to grill Wanted to share that with you all tonight.

Lucky you to have the ability and the desire for raising your own food! I wish I could raise more..I have a friend who does and I buy from here when she has extra.

Dinner, as I have always been taught,
is the main meal of the day, no matter what time.

Dinner is my main meal, daily, around noon each day.

Oooh Glenda.. yummy...yesterday I was given a treat bag full of homemade peanut clusters...and left them in my desk..

Those would be good broken up and stired into ice cream.....

I made a big pot of chili today, And if I say so myself I make really good chili..

We went to dinner with friends tonight. Had a fried green tomato appetizer and scallops.

I used the carcass of a Costco rotisserie chicken to make chicken and rice soup yesterday so today I added some left over sauerkraut and ham and it was very good.
I also made some potato salad but was too full of soup to eat any.....Roy said it was good. He loves potato salad so I will have to try some tomorrow to see what it needs.
I added some organically grown purple radishes and some sugar snap peas to it and some grated organic carrot.
I love getting the CSA box!

I too believe dinner to be the main or larger meal of the day; usually evening except for Sunday, that one is around noon.

I had one of my favorites: a grilled cheese sandwich. I use Healthy Life* whole grain wheat, low fat bread, with 2 slices of cheese with strawberry preserves between the slices. I treat myself with a coke when I have that. *Kroger and Target have this bread; maybe other stores do too. Comes in 1/2 or whole loaf.

Well hubby is now asking for something to eat..it's almost 9pm..

Wind is picking back up..I am baking toffee chocolate chip cookies..
