Tonight's inner menus?

What was on your dinner plate tonight? I had a tender steak, smeared with blue cheese and some sautÃ¯Â¿Â½ed frozen green beans. I passed on the potatoes. It is very cold out so we ate off tv trays in front of the fireplace. How about you?

That is supposed to be DINNER menu!

I like "inner menu" better. It suggests all sorts of interesting possibilities.
But your meal does sound awfully good. :-)

Aw, I like the "inner" better.
Today was a glorious, cold but sunny day!!! Much better weather than we had over the holidays.

We had french onion soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. I piled the slow cooker with onions yesterday and cooked all day. Today I simmered some in stock with a splash of vermouth.

I used the regular cheese slices, and used up the rest of the Camembert for the grilled cheese.

Update and thanks for the good suggestions I received here. I also did a bit of reading and taking everything into consideration, came up with the following: Mini Croissants, regular and five grain Boars Head tavern ham, shaved Boars Head maple honey turkey, thinly sliced Condiments: several kinds of mustards, regular mayo and mayo with pesto, blueberry and raspberry/cranberry jams Capers, small dill pickles and sweet gherkins Plain and Vanilla yoghurt with organic granolas (plain and dried cherry and almond) and blackberries, blueberries and raspberries as available add ins Tart cherry scones and almond biscotti Blueberry muffins (not very sweet) Scrambled eggs We had a variety of coffees, teas and hot chocolates for the kureig, and individual bottled juices in mango/banana, orange, blueberry blend, greens, etc., and fizzy and still water. One guy got up early and I took him to the local track for a run. The others slept in and they ate around 11:15. Everyone ate some of everything, and I packed up a basket of goodies for their car trip. No one wanted any mimosas or my favorite pink champagne, as they were off to South Carolina where they had another performance the next day. They were all lovely, all very accomplished operatic singers who attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory and absolutely delightful. They all wished they had known we had a tennis court because they all play, and we agreed the next time they come to town we will schedule a round robin tournament with local players. Ours is counter height with a stool, which is especially helpful to use as an extra stool for the island, without taking space there all the time. I don't sit there much at all, but I have on occasion. We have two offices, one for me and one for DH, so our kitchen desk doesn't get cluttered. We use it as a place to jot down notes and a place to store non-kitchen items. We keep note pads and pens, scissors, measuring tape, etc., there. I have a shelf for my cookbooks just above it. I keep a clipboard out with several copies of our shopping list. Speaking of organization tips, my best ever is the way we do our shopping list. I made a list on my computer that includes everything we get on a fairly regular basis. The list is organized by aisle in the grocery store. Under each aisle's list, there is a place for "other" where I write in anything unusual. Whenever we discover we are low on something, we immediately go put a blank line next to that item on the list. I write in specific directions (e.g., how many, which brand) next to the item's name. Before going to the store, we go through the whole list quickly to see if there is anything else we need. As we shop, we put a check on the line as soon as we put the item in our basket. With this system, shopping is a breeze and we never forget to buy things we need. Here is a link that might be useful:

Bpath, lol😎 and thanks Mtn. We have few decent restaurants here so I cook almost daily. Tina, Bestyears started a thread sharing a similar recipe. Variations of zucchini and pasta abound— it was one of the internet favorites this summer. Apparently Julia Child developed something like this but I imagine the current iteration is something she would not recognize. Cheesecake with a thin layer of lemon curd on top, whipped cream and a few raspberries— just leave off the berries. For next time . . You can also buy lime curd or make it and do the same thing and call it Key Lime cheesecake. I serve hearty beef dishes like bourgnon over egg noodles, with a good salad and garlic bread just as someone above posted. Night before last i made a quick blueberry tart with all our blueberries (leaving town early tomorrow for Washington again). Cooked the blueberries, fresh and added in a small pkg of dried blueberries, with lime juice, sugar, cinnamon cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom. After 30 min on a low boili added a slurry of 2 tblsp cornstarch mixed with a small amount of cold water, and cooked until thickened. cooled itin a bowl in the freezer, then unfolded a sheet of puff pastry almost thawed, used a pizza cutter to cut strips on an angle on both sides just to the middle where the blueberries were and cross the strips over each other. Brushed with egg wash and sprinkled with turbinado sugar, cooked on parchment paper over a half sheet pan in the oven for 20 min on 400 convection, then lowered temp for 350 and continued cooking until bottom crust was crisp. Served with vanilla ice cream. Easy peasy! I didnt take a picture, i make these often withdifferent fruits and spices as the frozen puff pastry makes it so easy. I made this lne the same way, with apples ( and used boiled cider, cinnamon, nutmeg and rum extract) and the crossed stripsof pastry.

I have been having a craving for Subway spicy Italian, so I stopped there tonight. I had the six inch spicy Italian, and am so full that I am uncomfortable now. Husband had the 12 inch Subway club. It really hit the spot.

My dinner menu: leftover spiral ham, baked potatoes, broccoli

My inner menu plans: get into bed, read a chapter or 2 of my book, and turn out the light at a time early for me.

I liked the "inner menu", Pam, a happy accident!

One of my most memorable typos was right after I moved into a new position at work. I meant to say "I apologize for the inconvenience..." but a typo and spell check caused me to send out an email apologizing for the INCONTINENCE... My email got LOTS of responses and has helped me to never take myself too seriously.

We worked on our seed and plant order at the table last night, surrounded by lists and catalogs. A perfect night for homemade pizza plopped in the middle of everything.

I baked hotdogs and Hillshire Farm sausages stuffed with cheese then wrapped in bacon. Served with sweet potato fries(I like them DH doesn't) & regular potato fries. Then brownies for dessert.(I made a double batch and they over flowed all over the oven...fed the drippings to the birds....hope they like it...ha ha)
