I have searched for free O.S.P. patterns and tutorials, but haven't found any - if you know of any freebies, please post them here - thanks!

I have several of her books and a video, but they are buried in the room that is going to be my craft room when I get finished with the rest of the house. I painted some sunflowers and a hummingbird using her method. The first hummingbird I did was pathetic; so was the second and third, but they got better and better until I could finally actually tell what they were. :) I also painted a mural on the wall of the room Anna used to have. It was wisteria and a picket fence. I don't remember what else was in it. It looked pretty good, but was definitely not professional looking. I am left handed and my main problem is with leaves. The instructions are given for right handed people. The instructions say for lefties to start at the opposite end and go in the opposite direction. That makes sense, but I think I could do better if I could actually see someone do it. I wish she would make a video for lefties. I plan to go to one of her seminars now that I'm retired. I had made reservations a few years ago, but had to cancel it because I couldn't get off from work. :( Linda

I'm talking about the Donna Dewberry 'One Stroke Painting' technique.

She has a current show on PBS Create stations "The Donna Dewberry Show"- free. Several older shows are also re-run frequently, including "One Stroke Painting" - again, free. She also sells books and kits in craft stores.

If you won't pay for anything, watch PBS or get over your dislike of you-tube.

Mary, how does one 'get over' YouTube when their brain doesn't follow fast enough to keep up with what they are showing - my eyesight isn't the best - maybe you could be a little more sensitive in your responses.

I have found YouTube tutorials don't go any faster than what is on TV - BUT... you can pause them and back them up to watch certain parts over (and over and over)

You can make them full screen also, if you need to.

Kay, you should have explained yourself from the beginning and we wouldn't have insulted you. There are countless YouTube demonstrations, including by Dewberry. It seemed the most obvious suggestion.

What kind of tutorials can you take advantage of, since video is out of the question? Explain what you are looking for.

Mary, kay doesn't watch TV, so the PBS isn't something she can take advantage of. Those are probably similar or the same as YouTube tutorials.

Most of the You-Tube videos are direct screen-captures of the TV shows. So the only difference is screen size, and as iowagirl pointed out, you can pause and repeat as often as you want, as well as make the video full screen on your computer.

Aside from that, I pointed out several other resources, TV and craft stores being two.

Also, she has many books and guides and DVDs out. Have you checked Amazon for used ones? They're quite inexpensive. Or checked your local library?

I don't think I was being insensitive. I offered options, seemingly none of which are acceptable to you.

You want free access to someone's copyrighted works. So use the free venues - TV or You-Tube or libraries.

I used to watch her on PBS a lot and taped some of her shows so I could learn to do the roses. I finally bought some paint and a painting pad and practiced until I got courage to paint some furniture. I see she has some new techniques as I just watched her YouTube video of cabbage roses. Maybe I should try it again. It was fun but my vision is fading now.

My neighbor suggested I buy coloring books and practice until I get the hang of it, so I'll try that.

How is it "One" stroke painting, it looks like a lot of strokes to me? I've never heard of it.

Joann, we are getting a Michael's in our town in a month or so and I will take classes.

I finally figured out how to make YouTube full screen, so I can see the painting videos, BUT - now the static is so bad I can't understand what is being said.

Get yourself some freezer paper it works great for doing
One Stroke painting!

I wonder why you are having so much trouble with youtube? I watch lots of different things on youtube and have not had a problem with the sound.....hmmmm

Marry, I did a google search for the static problem and some entries said it was the person who recorded the video, others said it was my cheap speakers. I don't have the problem when I Skype, so I don't know what's going on. At least I can watch.
