I am so mad I didn't go to the doctor earlier!!!

So, I got sick on Monday afternoon. Spiked a high fever, body aches, chills, congestion, sore throat, headache, the works. Had my sister, who is an R.N., check my throat for white patches, as I've had strep throat a number of times. No white patches. And my throat just didn't feel quite as awful as it usually does with strep, though my lymph nodes are swollen like tennis balls. So I stayed in bed, kept hydrated, and waited to get better.

Emailed the doctor today, and she told me to come in, as I have chronic health problems and she wanted to check me out. And yes, it's strep.

I could have felt better two days ago, if I hadn't been a conscientious "let your body heal itself" person!

That has happened to all of us. My GD is a LPN and sometimes my DD will wait too long. DO hope you feel better. But like I tell her, we improve our listening skills with age. LOL.

We had a hot dry summer but making up for it, we have been having a beautiful fall that started earlier than some years with very little freezing. We have had only two nights drop a bit below freezing. I'm not surprised at how well things are doing. My entire yard has been a mass of color and still is. People who don't live here would think going by some of the things said that Oklahoma is an unending natural disaster area. Its not. We have predominantly more nice days than bad days each year and we nearly always have a great fall. Seems like the bad days get all the attention lately. I love this time of year. The trees are gorgeous here in the city and the weather has been stupendous. Most plants have snapped back nicely except some that prefer cooler climates that couldn't take the hot summer. You couldn't ask for a nicer place to garden than in Oklahoma in the fall and we have had many good summers, not every single year, but more good ones than bad in my memory. We are used to comparatively mild winters and at worst, have a couple bad spells or the temperature drops down in the single digits or less a few days. I can think of a lot of places much worse than Oklahoma to live in winter. I once lived in North Carolina and I really missed the Oklahoma wind the whole time I lived there. The wind never blew there. I prefer the Great Plains and I think the good outweighs the bad.

txgal - I am thinking that everyone involved with this had no clue of what was going on! We are in Hays County here in Texas and the builder has never had to do a form survey before so I'm not sure what to say there. As far as the bank goes, the loan officer immediately gave me the impression this morning we would not need one because of building on 7 acres. But, they are taking the survey with the foundation poured (not sure how they could not since it is a done deal!) and she told me once the outside of the house is done, driveway and sidewalks we would need the final survey. My thing is we are not having the builder put in our sidewalks. We plan on doing that ourself so we will see if that turns up as a problem! Gee, wish I had your surveyor! I paid $860 for the boundary survey and the foundation survey will be about $300 or so. Not sure what the final survey will be. I would think not much more since they have almost everything surveyed! LOL! I guess we will see how it all turns out once they out there tomorrow. I am just keeping my fingers crossed everything is ok!

owbist, sorry if I mislead you with the info I have written, I am removing my own files and folders in prep for the writing in the USB thingy, these are some things that I have gathered for a long time, and am looking at them with new eyes, and I don't and haven't used them, so why keep them? You know ladies, and their needlework? Anyway, I know I read it somewhere here someone wrote in and asked about the black print turning blue, and of course, as I didn't need the info at the time, didn't even think to remember the title of the posting. Would like to know if the files/folders I have saved for posterity are still good, as some are not able to be opened, and if I can't see them, I guess I will just delete them, and start from scratch again.

Yay! I'm so happy reading things are getting fixed for you- I hope the finished product is done correctly and doesn't have the same issues. I didn't read every comment, so forgive me if you addressed this already- did anyone ever tell you exactly what caused this? I would want to know the cause to ensure the problem doesn't repeat itself. If it was poor craftsmanship - then I would want someone new fixing them. All I can say is, I have cheap builder grade cabinets that are almost 20 years old. I painted them five years ago (turned out great) and mine today look almost the same as they did five years ago. I have a couple hairline cracks but nothing like you pictured - so little oh me thinks - a kitchen like yours should be holding up way better than my old builder grade cabinets I painted myself. You had every right to be upset too. Again, I'm happy things are getting fixed. Post more pics when they get reinstalled :)

Sounds like the flu too. I guess it could be both....or is it "just" strep?

I've been guilty of doing the same thing and afterwards angry I didn't see the doc sooner. I've had strep a number of times when the sore throat was so minimal, sucking on a hard candy seemed to do the trick. Strep can fool you. It doesn't have to be painful......I've had that kind, too where I've slept in a chair with ice packs on the throat. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

I wonder about whether it could have been both, Susan. Though strep throat can certainly make you feel terrible.

I'd probably do the same thing next time, though. :)

I wish they made small-quantity versions of home strep tests.

Take good care Joann. This year's flue is so bad and if you have both, you'd need to be extra careful.

Are you on antibiotics? I always take pro-biotics too -- want to avoid 'other' problems. Hope you'll bounce back fast.

I came to Maui with a sore throat Jan. 4 and also waited until I had a little fever to go to a doctor. No strep, just rattles in my lungs. We played with Prednisone for a week; no improvement.

I took my last of 14 Leviquin yesterday. Seems I've had pneumonia. Hoping the cough doesn't return now that I'm off the antibiotic (which was a Big Nasty).
