Can I share my good news?

I had breast cancer surgery in July, 2008. At that time tests showed that I had a higher than normal chance of recurrence. I am still on my five year pills because it has been proven that it does help to stay on them and I also have an infusion of Zometa every six months.

Every time I went for a checkup and blood work my cancer markers have risen. I started at 13 five and a half years ago and my test last summer was 27.8. Anything under 35/36 in good but it was always going up. My test on Tuesday was 25.9. My markers went down two points, this is the FIRST time. I can't stop thinking about it. I am so happy.

I can understand your feeling so optimistic. I had colon cancer 3 years ago and every time I have my blood work done I hold my breath! Congratulations and do something special for yourself to celebrate. Satine

I know it takes a little while for it to start really cooking and that once it does, if I add anything to it, I'm starting all over again, right? Because you won't be able to turn the pile, just fill the bin as you get materials ... keep topping it off with grass clippings, dead leaves and such, keeping a reasonable balance of "wet green" versus "dry un-green" stuff. End with a layer of dried leaves and pack them down in the fall. Let it sit until when you look about 6-8 inches down it's looking like dark crumbly stuff. If you aren't turning it and watering it, it takes longer to compost but it still gets there. By next spring you should have the center core of that bin as a nice finished compost. Hi Christy, Mike is right. He has taken a lot of crap here. Mainly from one jerk who has mysteriously dissapeard. Hmm....wonder why he isn't here anymore? LOL...GOT WHAT HE DESERVED!!! I am glad you found a great organic fertilizer. I have to say that Mike has never steered me wrong and his fertilizer regimen has done tremendous things for me. IF you go thru the posts on the forum, you will find a post that I did on my new 'Dancy' tangerine tree. Not to many people looked at it. I think because they checked it once and realized there was no picture, so they never went back to that post. I also wanted to show people how the FP, white vinegar, and some liquid iron spray saved a sick dying tree. Since you want to go the organic route, can I still suggest one thing? Use the capfull of white vinegar! I have seen such a HUGE change in the health of my plants. I started the white vinegar treatment before I even had the FP. Good luck with your citrus. Your in the right place with this group of fantastic dedicated growers. Mike, Rhizzo, Josh, Al and Pug have all been extremely helpfull (There have also been others that have helped but this group has gone above and beyond being just helpfull!) Just one word of advice. If you are not trying to by more citrus trees, stay away from Meyer Mike's pics!! Since coming here and meeting him, he has been solely responsible for my buying my 6ft Improved Meyer lemon, and my Oro Blanco grapefruit tree! LOl. Love ya Mike! Andrew

It's great to have some sunshine to offset a number of the dreary ones that come our way, especially in winter, and so it is in the realm of health, where I think that we sometimes spend more emotional energy concentrating on the bad news than the good.

YAAAYY! What GREAT news for you! My DIL is 2 yrs. into Breast cancer and recently had the first 6 month check-up and is cancer free. It's a long road to go down -- surgery, chemo, radiation. . . and to hear a "beating it up" hero winning gives me hope for her.

Congrats on your good numbers....I am another one who always has high numbers and so far nothing to show a cause for it..

there are other things that can actually cause your numbers ti be high but keep on keeping on. I am now 5 years out from surgery and chemo and and the last time I saw my doctor she introduced me to someone as her "miracle patient"...at 75 years of age, I could die of anything before the cancer gets me...Wishing you good numbers from now on.

Congrats,that is wonderful news!! I was right behind you ,I had bc surgery in august of 2008.My markers have been ok,but I kept having pain on the right side under the arm,that caused me grief,but I kept on the dr,and last year just before xmas I told him the best gift I could have would be if he would order an ultra sound of the area,and just prove there was no lump there.He did and it came back just as he said it would,scar tissue.Still it eased my mind.Both he and my pcp had been telling me all along that is what they thought it was,and other tests said the same thing,i just wanted proof and peace of mind.

That journey is bad enough without added things to worry about.

This june will be my 5 year anniversary for the femera pill.

Great news and I hope those numbers just keep falling. One of the worst things about cancer is the fact you can never fully be comfortable about your health again. I'm going for my PET scan results tomorrow and I can't tell you how nervous I am. Good luck, sweetie---I'm rooting for you!
