I like my Maytags. Have a set upstairs and getting a new set downstairs. Have had them at Lowe's for awhile but bad weather has prevented them from delivery them today. They are to be delivered on Monday.

I dearly love my front load Samsungs and would buy them again for sure. Excellent machines. Mine have the steam function as well as the silver ions and lots of various setting options.
I never ever use liquids in my machines, was instructed not to from the store and from the manufacturer. I have never developed any problems with smell or mold. I also leave my door cracked after a wash to let it dry and leave the detergent drawer cracked also.
this is very similar to mine but mine is a few years older model and I don't have the foam option.
Front Load Washer
I do have the VRT and you can not even hear the thing you have to go look to see if it is running same with the matching dryer.

I have the Samsung top load washer. I really like it too.
I admit though I am too lazy to figure out all the settings..
I love there is no agitator in the center so it makes for a big tub. (King size quilt - no problem)
The only complaint I have is it is HUGE. I have to stand on my tip-toes to get socks out of the bottom!

I have a Speed Queen washer. Stainless tub, no fancy buttons. I'm very happy with it.

I've been hearing some good things about Speed Queen, I don't think anyone here even sells them.

I have a Maytag HE pair I bought a year ago, left my older maytags in the house I was offering for sale thinking they might tempt a buyer.

The washer is bigger (I've only ever had Maytags), quiet, holds a ton of clothes so I'm doing less loads, does a great job of cleaning without causing wear or damage to fabrics that I've been able to see. The spin on high (two settings) is ferocious, clothes come out almost dry. The whites setting leaves things white and bright, even taking makeup out of white wash cloths.

It's got a couple of design changes I'm not happy about. The lid locks when you push Start. I don't need the lid to lock, I'm not going to plunge my arm into an agitating machine. Used to peeking, did I add enough soap, too much where I might want an extra rinse, I spent a little more and got one with a glass lid so I can see what's going on.

Laundry takes forever. I can't set it for minutes, it senses weight etc and makes all my choices for me. The HE machines may use much less water, but they run a very long time, the whites setting is an agonizing 79 minutes from start to finish.

It's got a 'clean' cycle that is supposed to be run once a month and I do that. I'd probably buy Maytags again if that choice came up, but this one has taken a little getting used to.

Using while storing the offsprings' machine that came from their Mom's house - the uncle's one I used at first was loaned to an employee of landlord's, later taken up to landlord's newly purchased cottage north of Toronto.

The one now is a Sears' Kenmore, don't know how old [over 9 years, as she's been gone that long], top loader, fairly large, does a good job. Doesn't get a lot of heavy use, here.

I had speed queen commercial top loaders before I got my Samsungs and I have to say they were really wonderful machines. I got mine through a builders supply place, they were very big and all stainless inside and were classified as commercial size and quality. They were still working when I got my new ones and I gave them to a friend who is probably still using them. The washer had started making a strange squeeking noise which was probably a belt slipping.
I would rate them high in performance and quality and long life.

If you can't find them in stores see about talking to a builder and going to a builders supply company. They will only sell to builders so you have to have someone who is a builder work with you. That is how I have bought a lot of my appliances and it was way cheaper and top of the line products.

The Wringer Washer still works, next to the clothesline in the basement.

I also have the commercial sized Speed Queen top loader with stainless steel tub which was recommended here. It was not sold in my small city but I looked around until I found it in a small appliance shop in a tiny town about 25 miles away. It was such a small shop that he had only one in stock. I just love it and I thank you, Raven, for the recommendation.

I would not buy a front loader. I like to soak stained things overnight in my top loader, but my daughter's front loader does not do that. I also do not like that she gets mold around the door gasket of the front loader, even though she is very careful to keep the door open between uses and uses a hot cycle on towels to help clean out any mold. I find it easier to load and unload a top loader too.

I have the Sears Kenmore front loaders, they are about 10 or 11 years old now....Haven't had any problems yet, I leave the washer door slightly ajar and
use either the Tide or Affresh washer cleaner every month...

Frigidaire bottom of the line front loader at home. I'm on my second one in 13 years. House sitter overloaded the first one, but I'm still only out a total of $700 for both machines.

Maytag stacked washer/dryer at the condo. One repair (timer) in 13 years. I plan to hang on to this set; it's among the last Maytags made in Newton, Iowa.

Question: Am I missing something? What's the big deal about having a SS tub in a washer or dishwasher? It's the moving parts that wear out.

I still love my Frigidaire front loader set I bought 8 years ago when I bought my house. They don't get used more than once a week, since it is just me here. I have always used liquid Tide HE and only use cold water and my clothes come out sparkling clean.I leave the washer door open a couple of inches and have had no mold or other smelly problems. My laundry is near the furnace in the basement and I think the heat dries the washer.

chisue.....I have a SS tub on my GE. DH leaves coins or screw gun bits in his pockets. They chip the enamel in a washer or dryer and then you get rust....and rust stains your clothes.

My GE holds a king size comforter,but DOES NOT do 3 loads of clothes at once, because of the LARGE tub size, like it was promoted to do. It still only cleans one load at a time. It also makes a squeaking noise when operating. I'm NOT recommending it....but it's OK.

Our Kenmore Elite front loaders died at age 9 - two years after the spin feature was fixed on the washer and the drum was fixed on the dryer (both went at the same time and we hardly used the dryer). The tech told us that we might get 2 more years out of them at age 7 and he was right. He also told us that many of the newer units will die at 5 years. I bet he was right. We had to buy Bosch subcompacts at a horrific Cdn. price due to space requirements. The washer plugs into the dryer. The only thing I really put in the dryer is bedding. So it isn't used all that much. However, I won't use the washer and dryer at the same time. Apparently you can but I asked a woman who works for Bosch and she said she won't do it and that was good enough for me. I wish there was a clean laundromat nearby because it is starting to look good to me. Especially considering the subcompact nature of our machines. We do leave the washer door open as well as the detergent holder. I don't use fabric softener - just liquid HE detergent for sensitive skin that doesn't stink of fake botanical scents that I am allergic to. We were told not to use any of the washer cleaners in the unit - that they could damage the rubber etc. Same with the dishwasher. Who the heck knows?
