What Are You Doing Today?

I ran the dishwasher and then I have spent the morning finishing up some curtains for my downstairs half bath. Now I am going to get ready and make a curtain for my back door. We are still in the orange alert the last I heard. I think that means only going to work if possible, no school for most of the state I think too. How is your weather? Still a lot of snow clinging to the trees but a bit warmer. Are you doing anything at home or if out and about. I never get cabin fever as I have lots I can do.

Going to get out of the house today!!! I haven't been out since last Saturday, and happy to have rising temps. It's 30 degrees warmer than it was yesterday at this time.

Happy Valentines Day to me, I've been on my hands and knees in the island and driveway beds trying to make some sense of winters mess ;0) Really, I feel pretty pleased, it looks better out there and I've been inside with our rain and cold for too many days. I found some baptisia shoots under the leaves, some inula too. I don't know yet if the salvia survived the colder winter, too soon to tell. DH helped me take down a 12' rhody to the ground, one of 5 in a row we'd already shorted by about 8' two years ago and this one didn't ever thrive again like the others. I was pulling leaves and debris out from under the azalea hedge when it started to rain again so I came in - thinking it was about 5 PM from the darker sky and it was 3:30. I'm not sure what we're going to eat tonight, maybe he'll cook a steak. I have a couple of lobster tail in the freezer that I like, but lobster isn't his preference ever... We are aiming for a Costco trip Thursday but DH did run to the store with a short list for me this morning and came home with flowers. Grocery store flowers, but I'm not complaining ;0)

I finished edging the hedge border this morning that I began on Friday. One down, two to go. Then I hopped on the mower and mowed everything, finishing up at 3pm. The grass was high and rain is expected again either over night or tomorrow morning. I love my Toro Zero Turn mower but it's not the greatest on damp grass, makes skid marks, doesn't cut as well. Then I like to use the self-propelled Lawn Boy mower with the grass catcher bag around the garden area. Lots of walking, stopping to empty the bag, walking, stopping to empty the bag, etc. Needless to say my feet and back are achy tonight. Took two Bayer Back and Body earlier. Also my skin feels warm - too much sun today. One of the outside cats was AWOL for 8:30p supper, showed up a little while ago at 10pm. so took him outside and around to the cellar in the dark. Saw my first lightning bug of the season!

I've been at a Hearing Loss convention since Wednesday evening. Most of it wasn't very relevant to my lifestyle. I was hoping for a lot more focus on technological advances today. Not stuff that is already old hat to me. Not people trying to sell their procduct There was on speaker that was great though. The only one who didn't bore me to wanting to do a face plant into my water. I had a two hour trail ride booked for Sat. I got a good horse. But the wrangler was an idiot (IMO). No horsemanship. A wanna be cowboy without the ethics. Gave advice contrary to the the thing I do know. Since I was at the back I rode my way. My horse appreciated it. I told them ahead of time I rode with mostly English tack. Guess who was giving the reining horse? LOL At the end I tipped him as is the norm and casually mentioned that telling people to do a certain action was bad for a horse's back. I gave him an alternative to consider. He said that his way was the way the real cowboys did it and I should watch some old westerns and I would see. ROTFLOMAO I just smiled and thanked him for the ride. I didn't care much for the way he slapped his horse around to move it on the ground also. It wasn't outright abuse but it was super crappy horsemanship. Won't go back there. I had the banquet that night and was exhausted. Of all the places to hold this thing they chose an area that goes into triple digits this time of year. Plus it a tourist area that has only about a day or at most 2 days of things to see. Parking is outrageous. Their hotel charged 35 dollars a day. I stayed elsewhere and parked in the same lot for 10 dollars. Friday and yesterday the lot was full so I had to park at the other end of this tourist hellhole and walk the length back and forth. I'm glad to be home. Sleep in my own bed and ride tomorrow.

It was relatively "warm" (high 40's) yesterday and today. Took 2 mile walks both days. I finished cleaning up the flower gardens - I'd waited until the birds had picked the coneflowers and beebalm clean - and then repotted and root pruned nearly all of my potted fruit trees; still have 2 to do, but I ran out of soil. Managed to lose my pruners, too, wondering if I dropped them into a pot before replacing the tree. Sold my indoor bike trainer which I had never ever set up. I had imagined using it while I watched a movie or even a bike race on TV, but I much prefer the elliptical for indoors, and walking or jogging outside weather permitting best of all. Plus my DD left her small lifecycle also when she moved out. I am hoping that I remembered what I paid for it correctly - I think I sold it for the same price. As long as I never find the receipt I will be content! Last thing today was hanging most of the Christmas lights and set up an artificial tree and put lights on it, on the front porch. I didn't get that all finished - I think I need another strand of lights on it, and didn't get the few glittery ornaments on it. I'll do that tomorrow if it is not raining hard. I'll put up the hanging stars on the porch and in the windows closer to the holiday.

I am going to run some errands today because it is supposed to get slippery here tomorrow. I am also going to do some housework and laundry.

Lucky me.... having an MRI in a few hours.Haven't done that in awhile, and do not look forward to that closed in tube. I can 'do' all kinds of tests... but this one. (Wish I hadn't thought of it.... it turned on my anxiety!)

The granddog is here for the day, so I spent most of the morning entertaining her as she demands. Her parents will be here for supper so this afternoon I will be planning/cooking the meal. Decided on a baked goulash and Caesar salad. Was going to make a cherry/pineapple dump cake for dessert, but discovered that I have no pineapple. So it will be a mixed berry pie from Market Day that I had in the freezer. It is cooling now. Have had this pie before. It is very good.

Hello Marilyn,

It's still cold here but feels almost balmy compared to what it was yesterday and the day before. It's 40 and cloudy. Stayed up late urr actually till about 5 am this morning. I was reading up on flooring and guess time got away from me. I made myself get up at about 11:00, though since I had to run some errands.

Went to Lowes to check out the flooring. I've decided to buy the stick on wood-look flooring for now. i can't stand the carpet in here anymore and I can't afford real hardwood. I like a couple of the on-line colors but they didn't have them in the nearest store to me. When I get ready to buy them I may go to Lexington to get them. Lauren will help me. We did her bedroom a couple months ago in a stick on tile.

Then after Lowes, went to Kroger to pick up a few things. Now I'm getting ready to do my taxes and the FASFA for Lauren. She heads off to college this coming Fall. Hard to believe.

Went and bought a lampshade, oh pain. There must be thousands of sizes. Got one I don't really like much but it's the only one that fit.

Went to Costco, got TP, a $5 chicken and a salad. Our Costco is always miserably busy. Oh and a cute jacket, pink.

Now making chicken salad. Then take dog to the park to run around. He keeps staring at me because he wants to go. Weather is nice.

Dh and I went out to lunch and then to do some shopping. Nice day out, it was 27 and sunny.

Did some crocheting, went to a funeral, did some errands, came home and did a little more crocheting. Went out to dinner with my Birthday group to celebrate a friends 75th. That's it.

Just finished making 5 no sew super hero capes...

I added a compass rose to the back. It is our "insignia" at school. They are for the office staff plus one..

It is super hero day tomorrow at school..

No pedaling a bit on the bike..then off to the shower..

I watched an all day meeting held at the NHGRI. But today, I'm not wearing a coat! That's what I am doing-enjoying not wearing a coat, instead of bundling up so much I look like the kid in The Christmas Story movie. Going to a goodbye party tonight.

We are going out in the rain to hubby's appointment to get a CT scan of his kidneys. After we get back home, I hope to do some crafting.

went to target and did the whole store...hurt my foot and used a store electric cart....I must have done every isle..did find a cute sweat shirt for dgs's bday...

today will do the same thing at sam's club...I found out why my foot it hurts...it's the way I rest it, sitting here at the computer! and keep forgetting!

we had just enough snow last night (one small strip and we were under it) to cover the van again! so frustrating!
