Wow,a lot of talent here!! Alisande,i love that rug.I printed off a couple crows the other night to cross stitch later this year,or to go into my someday file.I have ida and ira crow.

In cross stitch I'm doing just a small piece for a friend,it's"friends are angels on earth",i'll probably finish it tonight.

Before I came on here today,i cut off and hemmed some new kitchen curtains.I ordered the wrong length but instead of sending them back I just cut them off at the top and re-did the casing.They have a lace ruffle on the bottom.I ordered them before xmas from "the country store".
So next week it looks like i'll be washing windows and putting them up.

Also saw a couple of things on the net that I may make up for me,one is a wrist pad to use when on the computer,the other is a heart that hold scissors etc next to my stitch chair.Nothing spectacular,just things to keep the hands busy and not snacking.LOL,LOL

Love hearing about and seeing what you all are crafting. I finished up 8 fleece snowman and have now been working on pop up box cards. I saw the directions on Splitcoaststampers Resource page. They are very addicting. I'm always making cards of some kind.

About a decade ago my wife's family decided to make a remembrance quilt for her grandmother who had passed away, all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were asked to decorate a 4 inch felt square with a design based on some important part of their life. When they were all finished they would all then be sewn onto a backing to make the quilt.

This was my square:

One of my watercolors. I love to paint, but don't always make the time to do so, and I am working on that.

I don't have a picture, but I have been doing some things made with toilet paper rolls. Nice crafts everyone.

Mostly, I am "Downsizing" and have a mess here in the office from going thru a file box of patterns and vintage craft books.. Off to the SA they go tomorrow.

One down, six to go...if my eyes hold out.

I am learning how to play with my Christmas present--a long-arm quilting machine (computer guided). Here is the first quilt I did on the new machine. I have two more quilt tops I am working on, that are almost ready to be quilted.

I love seeing everyone's projects, it is so inspiring. I am going to start on some new jewelry designs, and plan to try a technique called off loom bead weaving (if anyone does this and can offer some tips, that would be appreciated).

How elegant, Tripletmom! My late daughter, Gillian, did gorgeous off-loom weaving. She made some really stunning necklaces. I can tell you she taught herself using this book:

DH & I purchased a house & started ripping it to the studs and remodeling it this Summer. Took 4 months. I designed this railing, DH welded it for me.

Before that I upholstered this antique French pierced Victorian walnut chair, in a heavy velvet, restoring it:

oh my, what great talent everyone has. I'm crocheting a pocket pal afghan for my niece who's baby is due in July. I'm not sure what color the afghan will be be so I'm working on the animals. She's having a woodland theme. I found a lot of amigurumi woodland animal patterns.

Triplet, I do some off loom bead work, but nothing very fancy. I'll help what I can. For peyote stitch go watch Debra Moffit Roberti's videos and get her little peyote starting cards. I am not affiliated with her, but I am a very happy customer. I could not learn peyote stitch until then. Now, I can start a peyote project with out the cards if I have to, but my fingers prefer her way!

I am currently knitting hat for my aunt. I have a crochet ripple baby afghan half finished, and finished just in time a baby blanket for my new grand daughter in the Old Twisted Shale pattern (knitted).

WOW! lol I just love everyone's talent! Dang it... I just donated a learn to quill kit !~ I never got around to it! lol
I tend to do BIG! I like to see things come along quickly. You all remember my 41/2 foot wreath from last year. And the night stands re~do. This last fall I refurbished an ugly chest for the foot of our bed. I made a bunch more german stars for Christmas. I re~purposed a gurney, I made it into a sofa table. I still have to antique the paint on the top. I have a bunch of more stuff lined up..

and the sofa table. I went with purpley (lol) because my rooms needed a pop of color! lol i will be antiquing it!

Heather_on, your quilling projects are beautiful. I once was really into quilling. Then, school took over. I still have the tools somewhere. Back then, it wasn't a very popular hobby. It was a nice surprise to see you're into it.

I'm in the middle of a few small projects. I do machine knitting and have the red scarf WIP right now but the white/black is completed. The materials are a combination of Red Heart Sashay yarn and Sassy Fabric.

I am also crocheting a few nylon scrubbies to use for dishwashing and cleaning. Here's what I've done so far:

Arkansas_girl, I love them too. They work better than expected. I've seen them sold on Etsy but since I do crochet, why not making some for my usage. I've make larger ones to clean sinks and bathtubs too.

Such pretty things all of you make! Now that I finished my years' long remodel of that tablecloth for my son's friend, I am looking for another pattern to try for a tablecloth for me. I have test crocheted a few samples I thought I would like and decided I did not like how they worked up, but I think I found a pattern this afternoon. I am also planning to crochet and stiffen some snowflakes to decorate with at Christmas. Don't know when I will get to that, but it seems like a great idea right now. I also am not sure of the best way to stiffen something for long term use.

I'm almost finished with the crow hooked mat pictured above, but I took a break to work on a challenge piece. The rug hooking site I belong to invited members to create a piece using leftover cut strips of wool ("worms") and odd small pieces. I have loads of leftover strips, so I jumped on this. Here's what I'm making: a chair seat. I'm using my most colorful pieces of wool for the circles, which will leave me with lots of not-so-colorful pieces. Guess I'll have to come up with a second project.

sheilajoyce, I was thinking that you could crochet beautiful snowflakes for a christmas tree! As for stiffening them, you could use the classic starch or perhaps something like mod podge? I crochet but never did have the patience to work with very thin cotton threads. :p

alisande, I love your seat cover! Both of my parents used to make hooked rugs, and the process doesn't look too dissimilar.

momrox, thanks! I'm still working on the miniature basket I showed above and it looks like it will be at least another month or two before I finish it. Basic basket weaving is not difficult to learn. I'm self-taught from trial-and-error, on-line sources, and books... however, it takes years of weaving to have the skill to weave something like a quality miniature from 4-ply waxed linen. I am more than a casual basket weaver... I also teach basket weaving and have competed very successfully at the NYS Fair since 2008, when a friend from work convinced me to enter. :)

I needed a project I could FINISH, so I joined the 'Spring Craft Challenge' on the GW Crafts forum -- I seem to be the only one. :p Anyway, I came up with this basket I made for my front door... it represents hyacinths. :) I've wrapped the handle since taking this photo, so I need to get an updated pic.

Okay, somebody just had to bring this post backup! LOL. It makes me feel so inadequate, but I am compelled to open this thread each time it comes up. What beautiful things and what talent so many of the KT'ers have. I am not in any way crafty. Many years ago I did a lot of sewing but somehow got away from it. Tried needlepoint, rug hooking, cross stitch. even did some decopage but I wasn't good at any of it. I regret not having learned to crochet and knit. These days, my arthritic thumbs get in the way of that sort of handiwork.

Any way I love seeing all the examples of talent in this thread. Keep showing off your lovely things.

sheilajoyce, I use the boiled sugar and water recipe for the snowflakes. The recipe I use is:

1/2 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar

Mix water and sugar in a small pan. Stir the mixture over low heat (do not boil) until clear and not sugary. Remove pan from heat, and let mixture cool.

Wet the snowflake. Roll in a towel to remove excess moisture and dip it into the mixture. Squeeze out excess starch, then shape. Allow to dry.

I pin mine on a cork board. Sometimes, if they don't seem stiff enough, I redip them.

I've made quite a few years ago and they still look good. I wrap them in tissue paper

speaking of those scrubbies Have you seen the crocheted dish rags with one corner with a scrubbie crocheted right into the rag? I saw them this weekend and I thought it was a really good idea. I don't know if there is a pattern someplace or if this was their own creation. They were being sold at a craft fair last December.

This was my winter wreath that I made for my office. Working on a couple of spring ones now.

I finally finished the animal pocket afghan with all the little animals. My nephew is a coal miner so I made a little coal miners outfit for the baby along with some dynamite sticks.

Here's the coal miners outfit. I added the little monkey because my niece loves monkies.

Linda, those are great projects! I'm sure your nephew appreciated the personal touches you put into these.

Where did you get the afghan pattern? I'd love to tell my crocheting/knitting cousin about it. She has a toddler who would love it, I'm sure, even if she has to grow into playing with it. Wonderful job!

I got the pocket pal pattern from Annies Attic. It called for more squares than what I used. I wanted this to be for a baby so I just did 7 across and 9 down. The animal patterns came from different places I found on the internet. Most of them came from Annies Attic.

There's a small local diner that's having a breakfast fundraiser for a small local animal shelter... I offered to make a basket for their Chinese Auction. Since the weather is getting cooler I decided to made this slender hanging basket. I thought it would be good for hanging on a door, in a kitchen, etc. Quick pic... what do you think? will enough people like this in that style raffle?

I am kind of hit and miss at doing crafts. I have done lots of the glass garden totems, I posted some pics here of them some time ago. And I do make jewelry as my hands allow these days.

Right now I have been named Project Manager for our Garden Club and I come up with crafts and projects we can all do for fun and also to sell at our yearly sale. This is one of the more recent ones I taught them and I made for the sale.
They are fall leaf covered candle holders. Super easy.
