Guess who is 12 - yes Twelve! - today?

And still my heartbeat, the joy of my days, my best buddy, and the kindest, sweetest, most loving soul to ever draw a breath?

Yes, it's Harry, formally known as Iacchus vom Drosselbart, and sometimes referred to as Harry the Perfect, and my Little Sweet Smelling Petunia Blossom.

Yes, there will be photos of the birthday boy in his party regalia, later on today. He's not sure of what's going on, but he knows there's excitement in the air and I keep singing to him. Sometimes he sings along!

This is Harry at six weeks old, taken by his breeder in Georgia.

We bought him before he was conceived; picked him out from a photo at a couple days old, at got him when he was 12-14 weeks old.

I have not done anything with the ground where it will go other than check it for level. I will need to do a good bit of work to get it level. I plan on building the greenhouse in my garage. Today I bought a pair of 4.50X9" wheels with tires mounted on them I plan on designing the base so that it will be really easy to add or remove the wheels. The wheels will go on one end and the other end will be made to hook on to so my little John Deer diesel that I have can just pick up the one end and the other end will roll on the wheels. This design will allow me to build it inside near my tools and out of the weather. This will work great for me but if you don't have a tractor with hydraulic lift and big enough to pull it this idea would not be worth the effort. Where I want to put the greenhouse the zoning board would not allow it unless it is consider as a portable building. Not likely that I will move it once I have it in the location that I want but if I have it designed where I can install wheels in a few minutes then they can not argue that it is not a portable building.

On a walk behind type of mower, not self-propelled--what does horse-power have to do with cutting grass? HMMM?? Will .5 additional H.P. have any appreciable effect on the power of the machine? Oh, yes, maybe if the operator runs it into 6 ft. high grass that has never been mowed, or cut in any way. Maybe the additional .5 of H.P. will allow the blade to turn 4 more times before it gets stalled out by the thick grass? I have always thought that stating the amount of H.P. was just an advertising gimmick, meant to fool the average homeowner into thinking he might have something much better than his neighbor! now, if the H.P. rating was being used to make a self-propelled mower move along better--well--how much faster would it move, and could the person using it keep up with it? Go figure-- And, as for the goof driving the motor home, who thought they could get up out of the drivers seat and go fix lunch, while under way (That means moving along) should be in the "funny farm", not in court! I drive a motor home, and we've often said we would be able to do that, but only said it in jest (jokingly) as i consider us, my wife and I, to be smarter than to try that, even though we might get enrichened by some smart lawyer. ;o)

Tom, do you still have any of the red limes you had at the side of the house? I was down to within an hour of Excaliber over Thanksgiving, but I couldn't bring myself to fork over $150. Sure Larry, I gave one away Sunday but still have eight left in 6" clay pots, they're about 8-10" tall now and just turning into hardwood, this is their fate in pots or they would be four times as large by now in the ground. I'm starting to harvest LOTS of zucchini! Yes, it is hard to keep up with them. Usually, I go thru the plants twice a week but that isn't really often enuf! There's a truck farm down the road from the big veggie garden. It is one of the few left in the area and the guy is 2nd generation and getting old. I can remember the huge raspberry patch that his parents had! Anyway, I guess he grows something else, somewhere else. The fields near his house are summer squash, year after year after year. His last planting is just coming up! His example is part of the reason why I plant zucchini in succession. Since they were all set out as started plants this year, I'm not really sure when my last zuke seed was sown. Probably around July 4th. That has been my practice for a number of years - plant a 2nd crop about the 1st of July. Actually, it was about a 3rd crop this year and I've got plants in all sizes right now. None, however, that are just coming up! He must know what he is doing but maybe variety choice is important. He gets a couple of weeks of MASSIVE harvests in each field and then they are done. It kind of looks as tho' his workers go thru the plants daily. Steve

Awwww Happy Birthday to Harry! I love seeing pictures of him he is so handsome!
Definitely a member of the family. That's how it is at our house too.
My little girl is going to be 5 in April, very hard to believe.
And on que she comes bouncing into the room like she knew I was thinking about her.

I'm soooo very glad I'm not the only one who throws a birthday party for dogs!! Fortunately now we have two who are siblings so that cuts the parties down to two a year..(nope the cat doesn't get recognized cause we're not for sure when she was born...just the year)
