Better than Pam, that is!! I tried it. I cook my pound cake in a bundt type pan and the pound cake came out clean and no places where I had missed using shortening and flour. I also used it on a pan that I usually spray on Pam for cookies I made and it was great!!! Absolutely no sticking and there was NO residue like that Pam makes...I had gotten some real nice pans for Christmas, and now I will not ruin them with that awful Pam. That is one of the best household hint EVER, EVER, EVER! I love these household hints...but this one is my favorite..I cannot tell you how many pans I have ruined or tried scrubbing that residue that Pam leaves. Thank you, Thank You!

Better Than Pam Coating

1/2 cup corn, canola or vegetable oil
1/2 cup shortening, room temperature
1/2 cup flour

Beat all ingredients with an electric mixer until it has increased in volume slightly and resembles marshmallow cream.

Store in a covered container in the cupboard. If it separates upon sitting, just stir before using.

Hi again Laurie I found Souvenir de Mme de Corval on Vintage Gardens "available list" when I checked just now. There might be other sources nearer you. I will order it from Fabien Ducher in France I think, or perhaps Martin Weingart in Germany has it. I had this rose especially budded for me a couple of years ago, but I was stupid enough to kill it in a fall bare root planting. It grows at the local rosarium here, and it's one of my favorites. This rose has an amazing flower shape, best fragrance, and it doesn't grow as tall as some HP's. Growth habit is pretty upright and usually doesn't need any support. It's the dream rose I'm yet again ordering this fall :-) I mentioned Gruss an Aachen because of it's growth, leaves, health and flower habit. It behaves pretty much like SdlM. The flowers are a bit more open in shape, and they are very fragrant and nice little plants. There's a pink and a white sport available too. Perhaps you might like some of the China roses, because of their size and growth habit. The canes are a thinner and leaves are smaller and finer, but they are shapely plants and some are fragrant like Sophie's Perpetual and Irene Watts. Might be worth checking how they do in your climate. Best of luck with your rose search :-)

Stir: Just adjust your water level to fill full. It is easy with just a turn of a screw. Videos(you may have already watched) will show you how and talk you through--easy. You will enjoy it much better then. Handwash sounds fine. Even my front loader does that. Very little tumbling/agitating on that cycle. Use Perm-Press and put your speed on Delicates for a slow wash/spin without the soaks.

Fortunately there are still a few people who have enough money to keep the beautiful old Lake of the Isles homes from falling down around the woodwork and even salvage original features. I imagine it's different for starter homes. I never look at those listings. The ones I do look at frequently have painted the wood in much of the house. Sometimes they've left the foyer and stairway alone but when you move into the living areas it's white woodwork. You know they didn't build 'em that way back then unlike just about every new suburban home in the last couple years - at least around here. It's of course none of my business what people do with their home, just sayin' I love to look at the ones like this with all the beautiful woodwork.

Well, you could slather it on with your fingers but that would defeat the other reason for using it instead of spreading with crisco and flour. Just use a pastry brush. Works beautifully.

Thanks for this tip jasdip. I made the spoon rolls last night and they just fell out of the tins. Love it.

Yeah, I didn't think fingers would be a great way! Okay, thanks! Was thinking of dipping a clean paper towel in the jar, didn't think of pastry brush. Duh. Thanks! Am going to try this.

I don't know.....I use my fingers. Just slather it into my bread pans. Really you can use whatever you feel comfortable with....fingers, paper towelling, brush, it's flexible!

I'm one of the "BTP" fans, too.

I used it tonight in my crockpot. I take a long-handled spoon and "plop" a "glop" of it in the pan and then use the silicon pastry brush to coat the entire cooking surface.

I made up a jar of the "BTP" and gave it to a couple of my neighbors; they are impressed, too.
