I don't carry cash. We even pay with a credit card @ Taco Bell! So I have no problem YOU can help me out with.....so nice of you to offer tho.... lol

Socks, I know that those menu's carry germs and I always use my hand sanitizer after ordering. I always think about the salt and pepper too..I feel like wiping those off! :). Good thing our bodies can deal with all of that...most of the time.

I take napkins or kleenex into any public bathroom, to dry my hands if the only other option is an air dryer ("push button, hold hands in front of airflow, wipe hands on trousers").

I turn off the water with my wrist if possible, dry my hands, & open the door with the napkin.

Sylviatexas, I do about the same thing but also use my coat sleeve, etc. to open the door afterwards. It is surprising how many people don't wash before they leave.

I once had a coworker who said that her mother wouldn't sit on a public toilet seat. So the mother would put her hands on the toilet, then sit on her hands. Her theory was that she could wash her hands--but not her backside--immediately! Gack.

I use my foot to push the handle to flush.....never my hand.
Like others I use a sleeve or something to open the door.

I take Lysol wipes to restaurants and clean the S&P shakers. A clean one for my hands after using the menu. A clean one for the table too. Then my hands after all that. I only go to restaurants when forced to, to be polite. I wouldn't care if I never went to one again.

I'll take dirty money, doesn't scare me!

My father raises and lowers his own toilet seat with his foot. Then he walks around the house, redistributing those germs all over when he could have washed them off his hands.

If you turn bathroom door handles with your coat and then touch your coat later, those germs are now on your hands and soon in your car and closet.

And like I said in the hands-washing thread, if you take a bottle of sanitizer out of your purse with your germy hands, open it and then put it back into purse, you just put germs all over the bottle and into your purse.

It's for reasons like that, I don't freak out over germs. However, if you cough or sneeze a big phlegmly mess into my face or behind me, you'll get a look that could kill. :)

I'm not a germaphobe by any stretch of the imagination, but with a severely compromised immune system, I do take a few little precautions - least of which would be to swab down a grocery cart, wash my hands with an antibacterial (otherwise just soap and water) when I get back from shopping or from the hospital lab after all the all too often blood work etc. I rarely use public restrooms - fortunately my bladder works well and I can carry on for a long time.

I also pick up pennies, it's like tempting fate not to. One thing that women don't think about is the bottom of their purses, nasty. You set them on restaurant chairs which when tested are covered with microscopic human waste, purses are set on counters in business where mothers sit their babies. The list goes on and on.

I am 77 and never worry about germs. Don't even think about them! I wash my hands as one should after using the facility, that's just automatic but don't worry about door handles, dirty money, menus or whatever. I watch people wipe the handles on grocery carts and just smile. There's just too many places you don't think about, rails on escalators, buttons on elevators, doors going into department stores, the belt you put your groceries on, etc. You could go absolutely nuts just thinking about it. I don't know how I managed to live this long and be fairly healthy. LOL
