Prairie does know. It was Cher's first recording... and she got to do it because one of the Ronettes didn't show up to record it! The rest is history. Weird but true.

Cher got the gig because Sonny was working for/with Phil Spector at the time. Learned that from watching an interview on tv that Sonny Bono gave to whoever, years and years ago. Why do I want to say it was on David Letterman........And as Rob said, the rest is history.

Thanks! I was feeling cruddy, but I feel better now that I've been listening to be-bopping music. I needed some fun. I started out with Be My Little Baby and have moved on to a mix. Much better.

Prairie_Rose, when I see your screen name, I think of the group Prairie Oyster! I love those guys! Of course you know what prairie oysters are, lol.

A local guy, John P. Allen, used to fiddle and sing with Prairie Oyster, now does some of his own gigs. Sings in the choir of the village church that I attend, when he's home. His Grandmom was a cousin, on Dad's side of the family. First cousin on my Mom's side sings in that choir, as well.

His Dad ran an auction spot near here, for years: he's been a regular at the old guys' coffee hour and has been in hosp. for a while, nearing the end of the road. His sister is a doc who plays string bass, considering retiring.

A lot of music in that family - his Dad used to play swing music on the piano at lunch time when we were in high school (four grades in a two-room school ... we went to South Collegiate in London for Grade 13. But I moved to Sask. when I was in Grade 12).
