No nuttin in east central Illinois. No newspaper, no medical clinics (town of 165,000), no school, no courthouse, etc.

Last evening, about 9:00, the wind was being clocked at 42 mph and gusty with a temperature of 9ð. As I looked out my kitchen window this morning I see 2 cars stopped in the middle of the only road that comes near our house. That road is east-west and the wind was from the north. Now it is from the west, maybe those cars will be able to move along.

We got the call for Nashville schools delayed opening until Wednesday... last Sunday. We were to go back tomorrow. I wish you'd known earlier. Dang! That bugs me you could've had a free day, sleeping in, and instead, got awakened so early.

Yes, all schools are closed here and they may be tomorrow also. The drifting snow is now the problem. Red alert for most of the state.

School is in session here in my area of western PA, where the temp this morning was 28 degrees.

Schools here in Fayetteville, GA are closed today and tomorrow due to the extreme cold.

same for schools in mi... closed again tomorrow...and it's started snowing again sort of a grey-out....I can see the house in the backyard, but "dim"?? omg 3 people have died from shoveling snow...and I know that's first thing dh will want to do when he finally gets home! they have such a small office, I don't see why they don't close for a day! I'd even take a payless day to have dh safe!

I would think where we live there will be no school for the week. Whenever there is a drop of snow on the ground there is no snow. It does not matter if the roads are clean or not.

I remember growing up in Chicago that we'd hover around the radio to find out if there was no school. I dont remember it being more than 4 below in those days. I remember one time I got all bundled up and my sisters sledded me to school only to find out it was closed. School was only around 5 blocks away. They would flood the playground and the whole neighborhood would use it as a skating rink.

Here in DC suburbs, the wind is howling and temperatures frigid. Expected high tomorrow 5 degrees. Many school systems have announced closures or delayed openings. My local school system announced on its website at 5:00PM that schools would open on time tomorrow. I hope the buses start and pick ups go smoothly.
