The need to sometimes pay attention to the dates of book sections is one reason why I sometimes prefer books to my Kindle. Perhaps there's a simple way to flip back to check something earlier in the story on the basic Kindle, but if so, I haven't figured it out.

I've had that trouble too, Susan. Don't want to look back because it's difficult to get back to where you were. I'm sure it's simple but I never figured it out too well either. I do like the Kindle, though.

I read the book (hard copy) and enjoyed it. As I recall it has dozens of tiny chapters, like 2-3 pages. Makes for lots of good stopping places.

Agree about reading on a tablet. It's fine for a bon-bon book, but not something deeper, where you want to go back and forth.

I've just finished a typically complicated book by Thomas Cook, "The Cloud of Unknowing". I was back and forth many times. (Warning: Dark story.)

if I remember right...the Nook has it's pages numbered
if you wright down the number you can just go back to the place you stopped

I'd go check for you but it's not charged up anymore and I don't use it.

Thank you to all for your comments. I have a Kobo electronic book reader and while I used it regularly for a while, I find that I still prefer actual books. One of the reasons I don't favor the Kobo is not being able to move back and forth easily within books, as some of you have mentioned. Paper books are so much more flexible.
