in-law means someone is married to, not related to, someone. I once dated my sister's brother in law. I've seen many occasions where two brothers married two sisters. Not a problem! Whoever said you were related to them is not very smart!

I was watching Geneology Road Show the other night & someone was told they were 6th cousin 5 times removed to "someone famous"(I forget). DH says what's that? ...I have no idea. That would take a lot of paper, LOL! Whoopteedoo! Lol

My G'pa's bro married my G'ma's sister. My mom always said she & those cousins were "double fist cousins"... I don't know if there is really such a label or not?

My niece J and I are about the same age. Her son B and my son D are the same age. J and D are first cousins and D and B are first cousins once removed.

Ken and Ollie are brother and sister. Ruth and Henry are brother and sister. Ken married Ruth and Ollie married Henry. Their children are double cousins.

BeeOhio, my mother has double-cousins. I live in zn6, Ohio--how do we figure out if we're related? The last initials were C and W. ;)

One of my wife's sisters, 'N', is married to a man 'E', another person 'C' is a first cousin to both 'N' and 'E', but 'N' and 'E' are not related (other than being married).

Jkayd, my grandmother's name was Ollie! This is the first time, other than my grandmother, that I have seen Ollie as a woman's name. Small world. But my Ollie married a Ken.

Another question. Pooh, is there an easy way to get this chart blank? I have family tree maker and had to do a convoluted print out for my cousins a few weeks ago, as I couldn't figure out how to chart what I wanted/needed. This would be so easy to just fill in the box. And might even make it easier for the in-laws to figure out where everyone fits. Which is kind of what we wanted. Maybe I will try to draw it out.

That chart is a dandy. Everyone else's first cousin, once removed, nephew-in-law illustrations has my head spinning!LOL It's so complicated.

Tami, I just selected poohbear's chart, copied it and pasted it into a note type program that is on my computer. Worked great.

Tami, Ollie is my husband's aunt. Ken and Ruth are his parents. I didn't realize Ollie was such a rare name for a woman. The funny thing about his double cousins is that they are all so different from him and his siblings. They all have the same genes, don't they?

tami and jkayd - My Mother was also named Ollie. She was named after her Great Aunt Ollie. It used to drive her crazy explaining to people that it wasn't a nickname for Olive.

Jkayd, Actually, that's only the third time I have heard it as a name at all, except for the discount store, other than in a book.

The number of removals is the number of generations from your generation.
