Do you mean simply a cover for a bed pillow?

linnea, I've had this happen before, I love sheets and pillowcases from the 50's 60's &70's..but they can be a resl pain to clean. Those yellow stains are built up body oils that have adheared like glue to the fabrics fibers. I can tell you what I do..but I have no idea if yours can take the process, I first soak mine a few day in the hottest tap water with LIQUID detergent,(liquid works best for oils) changing the water about every 6 hours and adding a bit more detergent. .after a few days I put them in a huge soup pot ( yes friends my soup pot gets a work out) than cover with hot water, put it on the stove and bring to a boil, tu rn down to a simmer, add a good TOL powder detergent this time and a good dose of biz..stir with a paint stirrer till mixed well and just let them simmer maybe 30 min and shut off...after it cools enough to handle without getting burnt I carefully pull the pillowcases out , remember all the gunk will be at the bottom of the pot....than I put them in the wssher and run a prewash..by now there's enough detergent in the fibers so add nothing to the prewash...than wash on longes t setting with hot water, true hot water with detergent and biz...this process works even better if you have STPP to add to every process except final rinse. I know this seems like a long process but it's sooo worth it to sleep on vintage bedding. I've found the older the bedding the better it stands up to boiling water. Omg this sounds like a recipe...lol

Hi Moroseaz, how have you been Lady? I have cut back on how often I wash sheets. Mikes and the boys every 6 days, mine every 3 and Amiees will continue at daily. I have a pretty good system unless I get behind haha so it really isn't as bad as it sounds. The fact that I have a lot of bedding is my saving grace because I don't have to wash, dry, iron and remake beds all in the same day. I can iron a few a day and generally always have plenty already ironed on bed washing day. If I had to do it all on the same day..it wouldn't happen. I try to have plenty ironed and ready..its when something happens and I get behind that I get flustered. I've decided when that happens I just won't worry about ironing them for that bed change. Ironing is my relax time, so I can flip my Safari Live I enjoy on Youtube and iron away. My ironing board is also a old heavy Proctor Hi-Lo so I could actually iron sitting down, but I've tried it and I prefer standing. I also do not iron filled sheets..not worth the aggravation, course I don't use many fitted, except on Amiees bed, but was just thinking I have some older fitted cotton percales, twin sized that I'm going to start using on the boys beds.I am still changing pillowcases daily though, the boys have a lot of allergies so they are droolers, lol. prairiemoon, you thought of using an old pillow for a dog but you don't have a dog? LOL Adopt a dog! You won't be sorry :) I can see why you think he's a Corgi. My mother thought the same thing the first time she saw a picture of him. He landed on our back patio during a horrific storm one night 4 years ago. We like to say a tornado dumped him on us. No one around here claimed him and it was during a crazy tornado filled night. Actually we say God and Carly (our choc Lab that passed away 6 weeks earlier) sent him to us. As to what kind of dog he is, it's not 100% certain. Vets say Australian Cattle Dog but he really doesn't look like pictures of Aussie Cattle Dogs. He DOES look like photos of Dingoes tho (which Aussie Cattle Dogs come from) and share many of their traits. Smart and the most well behaved dog we've ever had! He has spoiled us to ever having another dog. I know we'll love another one just as much as we do him but I don't think we'll be lucky enough to get another dog with this level of intelligence and behavior. Our only problem with him is keeping him in the pasture with a 4ft chain link fence. He climbs over it! He has a curly tail that touches his back :) DINGOES...
