I've had cork in my kitchen for a little over 18 months now (new construction). The bar stools sit on it and you can't even tell (metal legs), we love it. It's a darker color. The only problem we've had was when a friend brought his 100 lb Rottweiler over and it tussled w/my 25 lb dog in front of the fridge. The big dog left a couple scratches in the finish, I just touched them up w/a sharpie. It's never cold, doesn't really give under your feet much but you can tell it's not a hard surface. I honestly wouldn't think chair legs would bother it but I probably would treat it like hardwood and put something on the bottom of the legs so they don't scratch up the finish.
