Anyone used the Sharp MW drawer not in an island?

Posted by tsherman (My Page) on

I noticed the Sharp MW drawer is 26" deep. I thought standard base cabinets are 24", so can this only be used in an island or in a totally custom set of cabinets? Has anyone used this in a standard cabinet base, and if so, how did you make it fit?

Thanks!

I think the 26" is to the outside of the handle. This unit does fit into a standard 24" d base. I have used it many times. Go into the downloads to see the cabinet specs.

I have a Sharp MW drawer in a standard base cabinet and it fits fine. The 26" measurement is the outside dimensions. The only suggestion I have it make sure your electrician follows the specs and places the electric receptacle in the proper position otherwise it won't sit all the way back in the cabinet.

sorry I don't have a better pictures:

Josie,
I have been thinking about getting one of these. How do you like it? I may end up with the Dacor because of the glass that matches my Miele warming drawer.
Thanks!

homepro, I really like mine. We chose the drawer because the lower cabinet was the only place we could put the micro, and I didn't like the idea of having to bend over and open a door for the micro. I should have done more homework on it, but when the salesman told me Sharp was the only manufacturer that made the micro drawer I believed him. It was the only one his store sold. But the functionalty of it is great. It's nice and easy to place plates inside.

As far as I know, Sharp is the only manufacturer. The Dacor MW drawer is a rebadged Sharp MW drawer...without the "Melt" & "Soften" features and with 950 watts instead of 1000 watts. I think Sharp makes all of Dacor's MWs. We had originally picked a built-in Dacor DMT2420 MW and it was also a rebadged Sharp MW.

One thing to note is that the 24" wide & 30" wide drawers have the same internal dimensions.

Here is a link that might be useful: KB-6025MS Microwave Drawer®

Thanks Josie and Buehl. I know the machines are all rebadged Sharps but like the look of the glass dacor best I see Wolf is introducing its version in January.

Good luck!
