need help with backsplash and wall colour

The cabinets are a honeyed oak and the granite counters have a lot of dark yellow and black. We have the walls a deep orangy-pumpkiny-yellow and it's all to much the same. The floor is slate coloured ceramic tile. The house is a 1924 craftsman style, with painted trim. the appliances are black and the hardware/faucets etc oil rubbed bronze. We want to move away from the yellow walls as every tile we bring back to try just doesn't look right with the yellow, but if not yellow then what?

A pale green?

You already have a backsplash. It's 4 - 5" tall and the same stone as your counter. Are you planning to remove this?

As far as paint color is concerned, you might want to pick a cool taupe or a warm shade of grey like Farrow and Ball "Elephant's Breath" below.

It seems obvious now, but yes, I think we need to remove the granite backsplash so we can have a smooth transition from the counter surface to the wall. I don't like the wall colour and need to get away from the yellows. Then what colour walls and what colour and slyle of tile? All the wood trim is white.
