i recently purchased a new kitchen and appliances and paid no attention to the refrigerator depth, the unit specs are 33 3/4" w/ out doors and 36 3/4" with the door is it me or is this unit abnormally large? being 11" proud of the counter top is this awkward? I have tried googling for images of kitchens and nothing seems to sit that proud of the counter top. i need advise on if this unit would fit right in the kitchen or if i should look into a different unit.

Our new "counter depth" model is about 36 inches including the handes. I should have paid more attention, but our old one had just died again. The old one was about the same size, I wrongly assumed a counter depth one would be smaller. It sticks out a bit from the cabinets, obviously, and I am looking forward to moving it so it doesn't stick out into the room anymore! Five more months...

I've seen kitchens on TV with fridge protrusions that large. I agree that the situation isn't ideal. Many kitchens you see on the Internet now have so-called "counter depth" units that are closer to the deth of the counter so as not to look so awkward. But, they are a signifant price increase from standard depth units. Which brand and model did you purchase?
