Calling all pet feeding stations

Does anyone have any clever ideas for pet feeding stations? Things you wish you had done or wish you hadn't to make life easier for you and your furry friends in the kitchen?

I'm not sure I would call mine clever, but here it is. I actually got my idea from CatMom's kitchen. Photobucket

I'm not sure if you mean where the pets eat or where you keep the food & gear.... so I'll mention both. We have two 45 lb lab mixes. We built a 48" long drawer under our banquette to hold their food, meds and treats. I LOVE it! We keep the food in 2 big tubs that I got from the container store. Between the two of them they hold a 30 lb bag. In a 3rd tote we keep their pig ears - they each get one in the morning to clean their teeth. There's still room left for meds, brushes, clippers, etc. It's so great having everything in one place. Especially since my senior dog gets 5 different pills a day and I don't have to travel all over the kitchen getting his meal together.

We feed them in the bathroom that's off the kitchen. It has a tile floor so I don't worry about water drips on the hardwood. And refilling the water dish is easy since the sink is right there.

Looks great jdayo!!!!

Re: water drips; one of our cats is a splasher (loves to play "will it float?" with her toys, leaves, anything that catches her fancy...in her water dish!). We hadn't planned on putting anything under their dishes, but seeing how the water ring from their water bowl started discoloring the HW floor in our office during the reno, made it something to strongly to consider. The black plastic boot trays (sold at BB&B and elsewhere) are perfect for that purpose, FYI.

I thought about doing this but it wasn't practical for my kitchen.

We mounted our dogs bowls in a pullout drawer that comes out of the toe kick. When done we just slide it back in. Water is off in a corner by itself.

This is what we did when we did our kitchen three years ago. It's worked well since we really have no other space for pet dishes than in the kitchen.

One thing I have REALLY liked is having tile instead of wood floor this time around. One of the reasons I wanted tile was because I wanted a surface that would hold up well to cat water slop and frequent floor scrubbing - which my previous wood floors did not. And for some reason nothing I've ever used under the dishes to protect the floor really works in the long run. The cats paw at the water dish and one way or another seem to constantly get water on the floor - and under plastic mats and trays - which really wrecks the wood floor over time.
