I wouldn't be to wedded to that rule. What sizes do you have planned for your drawers? I think we ended up using 3 sizes of bar pulls, but one dominated. As I recall, that was the size we used vertically on the uppers. It wasn't nearly a third of the 8 ft height, though.

I'm not there, so can't measure. We did draw it all up to scale, though. I remember agonizing over it, too!

We used 96mm pulls on all our cabinet doors regardless of height and I like the uniformity it gives. We did use different sizes of drawer pulls (96, 128, 160 mm) though.

For me, the hard part was figuring out where to put the handles on middle cabinets. The tops of the middle cab doors were too high, so I ended up aligning them with the handles of cabs in the middle of the stack, and next to the ovens, I centered it.

We went with long upper pulls, they're the same size as the long single pulls on my big drawers. At a glance I'd say they are about 1/3rd the height of the doors. On the small cabinets they're nearly the same as the doors. We dithered over this but in the end liked the modern feel that the oversized pulls gave us.

I see practigal already shared my pictures. ;) My handles are 2/3 the length of each of my doors/drawers. We wanted something impactful. But Soonermagicmama, it sounds like you want to go smaller, not larger. I think that whatever is visually appealing to you is perfect. We used three different sizes, so not everything is exactly 2/3, but we tried to stick with that ratio as closely as possible without using too many sizes. For us, using a uniform ratio helped create cohesion.

We used three different pulls, handles, and knobs. I know it is not what everyone would do, do what appeals to you. We held several handles up against the cabinet doors before we decided.
