I thought about getting one and researched it. I found out the same thing you posted. Pur filters out things like Giardia. My neighbor put one on her faucet, but didn't use it long, she did not say why. I did not get one because about that time a report came out that the substances in water filters were not good for you.

Thanks! Sorry just saw your response. I missed it somehow.
We did purchase PUR. Mechanically, I definitely have a few concerns with the way it hooks, but so far, it's working ok in general. The connectors and switch are basically plastic, so I hope with gentle use, it will work long enough. I only paid $26 at Costco, with two filters included, so I won't be out much if it doesn't work.
It does taste good. And I am using it for the cats' water, too. I notice them drinking more as well.
I haven't read anything about dangers in the filters. If you know more about that, please share. I have immunosuppressed family members so the filtering of the bad bugs is important to me, but don't want other risks involved.
