Black Cosmic granite countertop issues - help needed

Newly (2 weeks) installed cosmic black granite countertop in kitchen (62 sqf). It turns out to be a nightmare!!!

The very first day I noticed that there are a lot of dull spots - all over the countertop, compared to the true black and white strips in the stone. The countertop looks dirty under day light for these spots. I can see fissures around these spots which make them even stand out.

After a few days majority of the countertop around the sink became dull with more fissures. What is more I found a couple of quarter size chips with 1/16 inch in depth.

I noticed that all these problem areas are resin filled.

Any suggestion on how to fix the problem? Your help is needed (the fabricator even did not response to my question - no winner here. Detailed post will be followed).

What is the finish? Polished, honed or leathered.

That is an EXTREMELY problematic "granite". It's best suited to a decorative use where it gets seen, but won't get used, not a kitchen counter. It shales and crumbles like a sonofagun. Granite wholesalers should actually explain this to customers before selling it to them. And it sounds like you got one of the worser slabs instead of one of the harder ones.

Really, the only thing that can be done is to select something else and replace it.

The finish is polished.

live_wire_oak: I never know that granite could have such issues. Then who is responsible for the bad granite. I do not think the fabricator is at all.

I will load a couple of pictures tomorrow

I have been looking at this granite for my kitchen island. Any updates on how it has faired since 2014? My fabricator has it in a leathered finish
