Child locks or keep-the-teens-out-of-the-booze locks?

Permanent locks or just until the kids get bigger locks?

Tot-Loks were the only ones that worked for us. They may be exactly the same as the ones that can't be installed on your cabinets, but you might have a look and see if their footprint is different (assuming you're using them to keep little kids out). DH installed all of ours, and he had to do some creative finagling on a few drawers.

Cast iron wasn't a problem with our kids; we did mostly the utensil drawers (sharp things in all of them) and the cabinet with the cleaning supplies and a couple of others whose contents we just didn't want wandering all over the house. Good luck!

I don't get it, why do you have to lock your drawers because you have glass, and cast iron?

Little child opens cabinet, glass item ends up broken, child is cut by sharp glass.

Little child opens cabinet, cast iron item falls out onto child.

And child learns.

Kids are small for a few years unless you are planning to have a very large family and have little ones for a very long time. By 4 or so they will not be going in drawers. Ask yourself if you want to install locks which will be permanent on all your cabinets. I always had knives in the upper unlocked cabinet drawers when my kids were little, by the time they were tall enough to get them they were smart enough not to. I have three boys who were very busy.

Generally for the cabinet drawers I use the twisting locks that are made from cast iron. Although they are old fashioned but they look classic.
