Our tile was purchased from Katie Lo. The website refers to it as Rustic Brown Slate--Romano Pattern.

I've never done slate, but in my first kitchen Reno we used a porcelain tile from daltile called new Orleans. It was a dark grey random sized pattern that looked EXACTLY like the slate sidewalks in new Orleans. We had cream cabinets with pewter handles. It looked great without special care.

We'll be putting in a slate floor in a Versailles pattern from Daltile, in Indian Multicolor. Unfortunately, we're a ways away from installation--we're currently wrapping up demolition and working on mechanicals.
