Bosch does such a thing (self-cleaning racks and sheets), I have them on my oven. I don't know if their full extension glides are self-cleaning though.

My double 800 Bosch does not have racks that stay in during self clean. They discolor, according to the service tech from Abt. He said that none of the ovens have stay in racks. I sure would like to know who has experience with stay in racks. Tia

Place racks in large trash bag, lay out on the floor, and place upright a cup of ammonia. Not poured out, but I use a glass measuring cup. The fumes do it. Tightly tie the garbage bag, and leave it overnight or longer. Be careful not to spill the cup of ammonia, it won't hurt anything but will be a mess.

Racks are very easy to clean after this. If it's hard to do in the sink, use the bathtub.

Have you tried the ammonia method on the gliding racks? Because of the track, those are particularly difficult to clean.

One would think with all the advancement in technology nowadays, someone would have come up with self cleaning oven racks by now. Cleaning the racks makes such a mess, no matter what method is used. Don't want to do it in the kitchen or laundry room because of the mess and that leaves the bathtub. Frankly, I don't think I would want a dirty oven rack in my bathtub either. Then we are left with the hose and the great outdoors.
Personally, I would rather clean the oven than the racks!

How about just NOT CLEANING the oven racks at all. Instead of making a mess just leave them be.

Can't you put them in the dishwasher? I have never tried it myself. We have cleaned the oven with the racks in place. One rack turned black the other did not. The last time I cleaned I took them out and just put them back in after.
