Dishwasher door smaller than rest of dishwasher?

My mom and dad are putting in new appliances, countertop, and backsplash in their condo. My mom wrote this today in an email:

"The dishwasher is in, but the door is smaller than the body of it so it looks like there is a gap when in fact there isn't. Not happy about that!!"

I know her dishwasher is stainless steel. I assume the door is stainless and the body is probably black, hence the appearance of a gap. Has anybody else encountered this problem or know of any solutions? Is this common for the door to be smaller than the rest of the dishwasher? Sorry I do not have pictures.

It makes no sense to me. Can you send you a pic?

UNLESS she is saying there is a shorter panel under the door instead of a full door (panel along bottom)? I'm not sure I've seen that, but confused what else she could mean.
