If you are looking to only spend $35. You should check Lowe's they always have specials. We used Dominion Granite in Ashburn. They only charge for the amount you use not the whole slab. At least they did 5 years ago.

Years ago I had to listen to the stoners gloat as to how they were killing the solid surface industry. Now granite is a replacement for plastic laminate. Revenge is sweet. Thanks.

We are using Norwood (they are in prince George's county). They came highly recommended and they also have many remnants on site. Bet you could get a deal. I'd give them a call and see.

And, yes, it's true in my area. This is for a relatively low-end rental. Laminate was quoted at 650.00 installed. So, unless I head over to IKEA and do a DIY job, granite isn't much more.

Anybody have experience with Stoneremnants by Euro Stone, near Dulles?

I'm in Baltimore and $35/sf is usually the fabrication charge added on to the slab cost. DC is generally more expensive than Baltimore. I was able to find uba tuba for $35/SF in a 40 foot package mininmum. Sounds like remnants may be the best way to go.30 SF is about half a slab but that does not give you any wiggle room for pattern matching.

check out Granite Works in Rockville. We haven't ordered yet, but our builder recommended them. Because they are the fabricator, we found their prices cheaper if you can buy something directly from their selection. We noticed a difference of $10-$15 for the same slab somewhere else.
