high vs. low voltage LED under cabinet lighting

so i've narrowed down my LED under cabinet lighting choices to environmental lights or inspired LED companies.
now my question is do i go with high voltage, since these will be direct wired and i already have the whips coming out of my wall underneath the cabinet and the switches on the wall ready, or do i make everything more complicated by going low voltage and adding in transormers, one benefit being that the low-voltage LEDs are slimmer and less visible behind the 1" lip of my cabinet face?
are there any other benefits to going with low-voltage?
what are the slimmest high voltage (with diffusers, preferably) available?

How high is high? I'm not up on the latest LED technology, but I'd be surprised if the the high voltage LEDs consumed line voltage(110V). And if the require anything less than 110V, then I don't see the benefit of the high voltage models because you'll still need a transformer or LED driver, which is a transformer specifically for LEDs.
