Mine's a white marble, but I decided I'd throw it out just in case someone appreciates the variety.

Regular matte tile on the diaganol and then Florida Tile trim pieces. The color is a bit off - the cabinets are a warm white but are showing a bit bluish.

i appreciate this thread, since i will likely be doing white subway (with white cabinets). :) wondering how people decided between using glossy vs matte tile?

I like glossy white tiles, my floor is dark cherry oak and the countertops will be black granite.

This thread confirmed my selection of an off-white tile, probably with no other color used as trim.

I chose matte finish because it shows fewer smudges and other sins and because I don't like all the light reflecting off the tile in my eyes while I'm cooking. Enough going on in the kitchen as it is. With white, there's a lot of reflectance anyway. It's a softer look, however, and it is a different look. I lined up bunches of each at a tile store to get a feel for it.

We went with a glossy white subway from Lowe's with an Oyster Gray colored grout (a warm gray halfway between gray and beige).
