We are in the process of building our college daughter a home on our property that will later be used by each of our six kids for the same purpose or a guest/pool house. The house is 28'X12' with an additional 4' front porch. The shotgun style home has cedar wood siding with a red metal roof. The interior has 2 lofts, one for storage and plumbing and other bedroom. We walled up the back 6' of the interior making a bathroom, closet, and washroom. The washroom and closet is one room which is only entered through the bathroom. The entrance to the bathroom is a sliding barn style door. All of the walls are white painted wide width beadboard style paneling with the exception of the back wall, bath/closet/washroom, which is going to be rusted corrugated tin. The barn door will be on this wall. All floors are white painted plywood. The 5' expanse of lower kitchen cabinets, no uppers, are white. The vaulted ceiling is going to be covered in rusted corrugated tin as well. So basically it is all white and rusted tin. We need to chose a granite for the countertops and have narrowed it down to two choices that are completely different. One is a blue, gray, and black granite and the other is more earthy tones with a cream base. The colors she is using for decor are dark plum, navy, coral, and green. Her sofa is a really busy floral that she is pulling all the colors from but prefers to limit the gold tones. Because of the small space, the sofa will be within a 5' of the counters. The overall look for the house will be a modern farmhouse with an eclectic or bohemian spin. I am uploading photos of the sofa arm and two granites.
