We have dark stained cherry cabinets with El Dorado granite counters and used Travertine 3x6 subway tiles for our backsplash. We really like the look.

I wanted to keep things interesting and went for a more eclectic look with a wider grout line than is popular now on our 3x6 subways:

then the stove backsplash is the chickens...along that run we just have stainless going up six inches:

catamount... your kitchen is lovely. Strikes me as bright, light, and leaning toward contemporary. First, do you have a closeup of your granite? What rooms/colors is your kitchen open to? Lastly, is your preference stone, glass, or ceramic? I'd love to help you choose a backsplash but want to head in the direction you prefer.

I LOVE your kitchen and cabs. So beautiful! It looks transitional to modern. I love the look. How about Oceanside tile's geologie tile in tortise shell?

The random pattern would also be very pretty--again, this picture is not the tortise shell color

The oceanside tiger eye might also work

Our backsplash; Jeffrey Court Chapter 9 Pietra Opus Quartz Brick Fire & Ice. We added the darker pieces of glass. Without the added glass, the backsplash looks great with lighter cabinets.
