Removing Granite Backsplash?

Posted by rrs626 (My Page) on

Has anyone removed the 4" granite backsplash. I want to install tile backsplash all the way down to the countertop but am afraid to try and remove the granite backsplash that is already there. Would appreciate any advice.

RE: Removing Granite Backsplash?

It's really quite easy. It is not glued on (at least the installers around here don't), you just have to cut the silicone with a razor knife at the wall and where it meets the counter. Get a stiff putty knife behind it and pry it away from the wall. Work you way along it slowly if you don't want to break it.
