Question about non-combustible alcove lining

Thinking of putting a Lacanche Volnay into an existing drywalled alcove. The Volnay specs are linked below. The measurements of the existing alcove are 47.5" wide by 35.5" deep. I would want an island spacer (not absolute, but that would be my visual preference.) I would want the door proud of the alcove, so there would be a lot of room between stove and back of alcove. How do I need to line the alcove for it to be non-combustible? I want to use ceramic tile all around it, but I mean between the drywall and the tile.
This would be l.p. and electric. Do I have enough room to do this, with appropriate surround materials?

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology? The Lacanche is approved for installation between cabinets. However, there is a minimum clearance necessary for the cupboards or other surfaces that are near the top and above it. Above is 30". Surround is a couple of inches? That sounds odd to me. So, I want a surface between the drywall and the tile, like fireproofing or something. However, destroying the alcove isn't an option. It is one of four in the room and that would change the whole room. Studs are 2 x 6 wood. So, could I just use cement board and tile, or should I forego this idea altogether?

I'm don't think it's possible to make a wall non-combustable with any liner. Demolish the alcove, install steel studs with cement board, then tile if you like.

The National Fire Protection Association is the authority on this, but I couldn't navigate their website to find an answer.

The specs call for only 2" between the range and a combustible side wall. By comparison, a Bluestar calls for 6" on each side. Technically you're good to go, according to the specs. But I agree, sounds a little odd to me too.

What do you think sounds odd? Only 2" on each side, but 30" above? If so, that is because probably the greatest danger for fire would be a grease fire on the range top that flares up. I would imagine that if the stove is properly insulated on the oven sides, it is unlikely that it would create enough heat to scorch a cabinet two inches away, especially if you put some other insulation between them. I have ceramic tile on my walls in back of the Lacanche. Passed inspection....

It's not about heat from the oven. It's about side walls above the flame.

Right, marcolo. I did not express that very well, but that is, indeed, my puzzle.
