Buyer beware when purchasing Whirlpool/KitchenAid/JenAire etc
KitchenAid KICU509xSS, Architect Series II Induction Cooktop Serial #XP42511052
9/23/14 - New KitchenAid induction cooktop installed.
10/10/14 - KitchenAid induction cooktop fails.
10/10/14 - 11/3/14 - Three service calls (with time in between for parts shipments) resulted in the replacement of all controller and power boards. The cooktop still does not work. I'm now told that at least one of the replacement parts is also defective and the parts replacement cycle will be repeated. This means at least another week (more than four weeks total) without the cooktop. I called KitchenAid twice to request a new cooktop to replace this lemon. KitchenAid Customer Service Managers James Kuhn and Chris (would not provide his last name), both read from the same script. KitchenAid will not replace a new, defective cooktop, regardless of how many repair attempts are made or how many months the product is out of service. As long as KitchenAid is 'attempting' to repair the product, they are meeting the KitchenAid warranty obligation. Neither James nor Chris would allow me to speak with a more senior manager, as this is against KitchenAid policy.
