What do the directions on the container say you need to do?

Good question. I don't have the bottle yet. But I did right the manufacturer.

I just use dish soap water and a microfiber sponge to wipe off or clean my soapstone.

I've heard that if you use a wax on soapstone, you need to be careful to not set hot pots down on the counter because of the wax.

I'll share what I do, but it doesn't mean that I think that you shouldn't go by the recommendations of GM.

I clean with mild soap/water or I'll use Method Granite to get them clean. Either one is fine to use after waxing as well.

I use Clapham's Salad Bowl Finish Wax (the GM Enhancer sounds like they have a similar recipe). I'll swipe the wax on in a circular motion and then leave it for 10 minutes-up to 30 minutes. I then use another cloth to buff them. In this house I have only used the wax once since the counters were installed (a couple of months ago), but my last kitchen's stone needed a wax about every week.

I have never had to worry about ruining the wax finish when putting hot pans on my stone (in either kitchen) after a waxing, nor have I gotten the dreaded water rings. I'm thinking that maybe making sure that your counters are totally clean *and* dry before waxing and then buffing can maybe make a difference? Not sure.

PS-I'm not sure of the consistency of GM's wax, but mine can get hard to use when it's cold out. I just plop the can (it's plastic, no metal anywhere) in the MW for about 10-20 seconds to soften it up before applying.
